Couldn't believe how much Crossways has changed since my last visit in 2015. It was once a lovely little site, ideally situated close to Fakenham town and the North Norfolk coast. Now it's just a cramped, characterless building site, full of unsightly park homes and half built plots. The toilets and utility room look and smell like something out of a third world country. Signs 'politely' ask paying guests to use a bucket of filthy water and mop, to do the cleaning for them! Can't speak for the owners or staff, cos I didn't see anyone who looked like they worked there. The on site shop and post office was closed whilst I was there, but a friendly caravan owner Tony? gave me some much appreciated local info and recommendations. Sad to say I won't be returning to Crossways. There are much nicer, better run sites for the same or less money.
Have stayed here before, toilet and shower block needs updating! Mens toilet no privacy when using urinals. Site small and quiet. Playing field at bottom of site adjacent easy access for dog walking and children's play area. Gravel path to chemical disposal would be better if it was slabbed or concreted. Staff in shop very helpful and polite.
We booked this with a little trepidation due to some of the reviews. The owner showed us to our pitch eventually, asking us first which pitch we were on! We showed our invoice and she said she would take us to our pitch. She showed us two next to each other and told us to choose. After two hours of setting up as we are still fairly new to caravanning, we were very pleased with how lovely our awning looked. We had just hammered in the last peg when the owner came along and said she had told us the wrong pitch and no we couldn't pay the extra for the one she had put us on!!! She said 'sorry' but it lacked any sincerity. There was no offer of a bottle of wine, any help let alone a discount for her error. We were so upset by her general lack of care that she had made a mistake. We moved taking us an extra hour and a half. Our dog and been on his lead attached to the ground all this time! When we told some residents they said 'It is always chaotic here!' The toilet block looks horrendous from the outside and is only slightly better on the inside and I decided to use the shower van as a consequence. The chemical disposal point doesn't run away at all well either. It is a well located site but is of a poor standard on the whole. We definitely would not stay there again. Go to one of the CL caravan sites instead as they are cheaper and much better run etc.
Would not recommend very scruffy and run down site, toilet block very old and in need of updating shower room dirty and shower intermittent freezing cold and scalding hot without even adjusting it. Chemical waste point disgusting as overflowing and blocked with sign saying to pour bucket of water to flush will not be returning overpriced as charged extra 8 per night for porch awning and 1 dog expected more
Nothing there. No space to walk dog, toilets are extremely old and scabby. The shower is just a curtain next to public toilet and anyone can see you washing. Very cramped in site, over filling with residents that don't interact with holiday makers. No children, felt like we talked everyone would moan, we left a night early as it was just a garden garden feild. Not visiting again.
Site is only small but quite apart from noise from planes taking off somwere. Toilets and showers although clean was in need of updating ie knocking down. Mostly used by statics with a few touring pitches. Lack of imformation in washer/dryer room led to costing £8 to do one wash cycle. Charged full booking fee upfront. Won't be using again.. Good dog walk though..
A fantastic secluded site with an on site shop for all your needs the tent pitches were fantastic and private. A great place to stay with everything from showers to washing and drying equipment. The owners were welcoming and friendly and there to help. We will be coming back again. Thankyou.
Pictures lie my heart sank when we arrived.... its very run down ... and tatty, shower, toilet block needs complete refurbishment... very noisy with traffic, it wasnt mentioned it was on busy main road ,we couldn't sleep, stayed one night and had to leave, looks like a residential site , people stuff .. not tidy or friendly... would not recommend
Very cramped, not very well maintained. Toilets and showers badly need upgrading . I would not recommend this site in it's present condition. Sorry to say
Nice quiet little site, staff lovely kind and friendly would highly recommend to anyone that wants an break from the norm. Perfectly situated to explore the area and a big bonus is there is a nice park and playing field for the kids and dogs
