Let's get the negatives out of the way first. The walls are not very thick. If some inconsiderate plank comes in at 1am, banging the doors and putting the TV on, you are going to be woken up... Having said that, the rooms are quite basic but clean and comfortable and have lovely views of the countryside. The two things which make this such a great place to stay, however, are the food and the staff. The full English Breakfast is wonderful, as is the bacon sandwich. The main meals, in my case Crossroads burger and ham, egg and chips, were very tasty and well cooked. And the apple crumble was very special. The beer was good too. But, most of all, every member of staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient. Very welcoming and cheerful, making sure that were got what we wanted. A lovely place to stay.
Have stayed at this Pub for many years and always had a good rest for holiday and visits. The food is excellent and well priced, the breakfast is delicious, with full breakfast or many continental dishes. Nothing is too much trouble, even Molly, our dog gets a sausage for herself at breakfast! Can definitely recommend a stay for that homely, cared for and also good service, bar and restaurant.
Rooms are modern and spotless. Staff very warm and friendly. Homemade food amazing. And the breakfast was 5*. We used there pub for dinner a few miles away. And it was all home made and gorgeous. And great value.cant fault it. Great views and quiet location. Will use again if in the area for the racingRooms: 5/5
We’ve family in Halifax so have looked for somewhere comfortable to stay. Tried many places but this was wonderful. So quiet and out the way. More importantly dog friendly. We’ll definitely go back with our GSD. Staff are so friendly and the breakfast was awesome.Rooms: 4/5

We didn't stay as we were there post funeral, this means I can't comment on the rooms or the normal menu. Having said that the pub was well looked after, there were 3 real ales on tap, all light unfortunately but that's true in a lot of places at the moment. The staff were helpful and friendly.Service: 4/5

Went for a birthday meal and it was beautiful. It is not the cheapest but very good value and large portions. All very well cooked and homemade. The baileys bread and butter pudding, GORGEOUS!!!Service: 5/5
Nice food big portions. Be nice to see a smaller option available as we all left atleast half our dinner so a bit of a waste
