Traditional with log fire, great food including vegan, friendly staff and owner, reasonably priced. Recently refurbished to a high standard. I'll be back!Service: 5/5
Great food. Staff were very welcoming! We are here on holiday but will definately come here again next time we visit!
6 of us went to the crosskeys for drinks and food, the service was great the food was brilliant no complaints at all, its a cracking wee friendly pub we all will definitely be backRooms: 5/5
A lovely quiet country pub. We came for dinner. Service was friendly with good selection of spirits. The food was good. Nothing mind blowing but its a pub! I really like my mac and cheese. Was a bit oily but full of cheese and mustard which might be the funny taste in the review a few weeks ago and is the thick mac and cheese you'd get in northern England not the pourable central Scottish style. They have vegan vegetarian and gluten free options all reasonably priced. I think the bad reviews for the food and drinks were maybe expecting something else because we didn't think it was "freezer food"
I visited with my wife and child and will be going back. Warm, friendly and great food.
After reading the reviews I thought this would be a wonderful cozy little stay away with great food and a fantastic host. Unfortunately the reviews were false . The room was antiquated The bed was . We'll sleeping on a park bench would have been comfier. As for the bathroom . As for the TV I had a larger portable TV as a child and I am 56 Trevor was very a little quiet . Definitely glass empty . The only time he spoke to us was to tell us check our was 10am . The food was not great I had the fish with ginger beer batter . Not sure where the ginger went . It appeared to be frozen food. I think the only delight I saw from him was when we decided not to have a full breakfast .
Needs a bit of tlc and one gentleman seemed to do most things and he did seem a bit tired. Was told it had been sold and he was leaving so maybe why. Its in nice quaint village with nothing there except some residents but with a bit of money being spent it has potential to be 5 cottages at back seemed tired looking. But food and sdrinks service great and nicely cooked breakfast
Food was excellent, the room was great and setting was very nice. Staff were attentive and friendly. Room was large and spacious, a really nice size. I've a preference for a firm mattress but the bed was comfy nonetheless.Rooms: 5/5
Drive up was awesome and surroundings beautiful. Very nice pub and would imagine under normal circumstances, very friendly atmosphere. On first view, room was quaint, clean and suitable. Evening meal arrived hot and tasty. Bedroom had a vague smell of old cigarette smoke probably due to age, but partner never smelt it. Bedding immaculate, however pillows thin and mattress hard. I'm 5'3" and could not get under shower, had to bend over to wash hair. Partner was lucky to get bottom half washed. Wardrobe doors rattled noisily with every step across the room; just needed a couple of stick on rubber tabs would have helped. Breakfast ok, haggis lovely, sausage and bacon average. Plenty of toast and drinks. Bar reasonably priced. Good parking.
came as a party of 9 cyclists after a 38 mile ride and stopped for 1 night. Beer was great and my gammon steak well cooked. We arrived on a monday to find out trevor was on his own in the week because the cheif had left a few weeks eariler but he made sure we all had drinks before he set off thr make 9 meals. The meals arrived and everyone seemed happy with there choice. Same with the sweets chosen later which also seemed reasonably priced. Bikes kept safe in a downstairs room not outside in a shed. Rooms l saw all seemed large and clean so L would very much stay again.
