Very nice countryside farm shop for shopping for food and drinks and also very nice posh restaurant too! It also boasts beautiful views of the british countryside!! There are sometimes horses and sheep there also. Ps the horses could also bite! there are warning signs in place...but generally they are friendly. Free carpark too!
Awesome farm shop and cafe. The food was lovely and tasty. I was the first one to try their strawberry milkshake, which was deliciously refreshing. The lady serving the meats in the butchers was really friendly. The horses in the farm are so friendly and warm. Great place with great views.
Beautiful location, very clean store, lovely staff that were so happy and helpful. Great shop. Definitely want to stop by again on my next trip down! Great selection of locally sourced produce and amazing pies and cheeses!
A nice cosy farm shop with a reasonable selection of artisan foods that will cover most people's requirements. Prices are typical of these types of shop. I bought some cheese, beer and cake. It was all very tasty. I can vouch for Croots Pig in a Bottle session IPA..
Excellent farm shop with butchery and deli. Delicious farm full English breakfast veggie option also available best enjoyed on the verandah watching the shire horses and lambs with the glorious scenery as a backdrop
I've passed this farm shop/cafe many times and I visited today for the first time. Produce in the shop is outstanding and good value. The cafe is a little small and booking could be essential at times. Food is excellent but a little expensive, but what the heck every now and then. Hot food is only cooked till 2pm but scones and cakes can be bought after this time. Large car park, toilets and friendly staff. On busy days the driveway could get a little crowded as it's one way with lay-bys. The views from the cafe inside and outside are fantastic. Enjoy your visit
Wednesday 4th October visited Croots Farm Shop and Café. Excellent Farm Shop with a great Butchers Shop. The Cafe is excellent and has a great atmosphere. I had a fabulous Bakewell Tart it was so light and fresh. We bought some great pork chops and belly pork. I still use and like the original name.
Lovely farm shop on the grounds of a large farm. Loads of selection with frozen and refrigerated sections, bread, cheeses, gin, wine and lots more. * updating to add a note about the café. Recently updated just before the pandemic so it is fairly modern, with nice decor, an outdoor balcony and large windows. If you are planning to eat, I would recommend a sandwich or cake with tea or coffee. The ham sandwich with coleslaw and the mac & cheese dishes are nice. However, we sat in for a roast dinner Summer '23 and were very disappointed with the time it took to get our food. We saw several tables get seated, eat not a roast dinner and leave. The starter of prosciutto ham salad was simply a single as in 1 slice of prosciutto, half a ball of mozzarella, a handful of bag salad with sliced bell pepper and spring onion, with a drizzle of vinegarette. For the main dish, I asked for a simple swap of mash, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding for more roast veg and got an extra piece of roast parsnip and carrot. I cannot believe that this would lead to the wait we experienced, which ended up being at least an hour from when we sat down. Individually the roast beef and veg were tasty, but the food on the plate was sparse on the plate and there were only two slices of beef - which were thick slices, to be fair. The table immediately next to us sat down well after we did, had their starter and then had their roast dinner brought out at the exact same time, which was doubly disappointing.
Had a mini breakfast and pot of tea, lovely food and very friendly staff. The view from the cafe is a joy, looking down over fields with Shire horses, foals, and sheep. Well stocked shop with quality produce, they had Fowlers Traditional Sage Derby cheese, my favourite. I was just passing so had not planned the visit. Next time will take a cool bag and buy more . Gravelled parking, but ramp and designated disabled toilet. Definitely recommended.
Called in on a Monday early afternoon for something to eat, luckily we were a group of two so they managed to get us in because every table had been reserved.... which I found odd considering the day and time. The food, a bacon and egg and a sausage and egg cob were nice; however, these and two drinks came to just over £16.... expensive, although not unexpected. The shop itself is nice and bright with a fairy wide range of products, in all fairness you'll be able to get some products at a supermarket for less; however, other products are really only available at places like this. Without a doubt the butcher's is the standout feature with a great range of products and cuts of meat, the sausages are superb quality and worth the trip on their own. Overall it's nice with the butcher's being excellent, just be aware that some items are expensive and probably available in supermarkets for less.
