I love this place! The variety and collection this family run museum own is out of this world. Such a beautiful collection of gemstones, Crystals, fossils, and all bits and bobs from around the world. A great tea room for a snack. And then a wonderful shop to start your own collection.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
For a small Museum we didn't think the kids would like it, But they loved it, once we had walked around we sat in the cafe whilst the kids walked around the museum doing quiz sheets 25p each to complete for a gem rocks. There's also a gift shop. Very friendly staff, was a pleasure talking to the owner about the giant amethyst as you walk in. Great for all ages.
A very interesting and beautiful attraction, well worth the entrance fee. The wee lucky dip for the children at the end was very much appreciated and delighted the kids. My personal favourite was the phantom amethyst. I also was able to do a great deal of my Christmas shopping in the gift shop. Excellent.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If in the local area this is a great place to visit. Lots of information on stunning gem rocks. Could spend hours looking at all of the displays. The cafe is also fantastic. Entrance fee is reasonable. Family run and you get that passion when you walk in the door. Staff were all happy to talk about the displays and stories behind them.
This place was amazing! A real gem of a discovery. Plenty of parking for the size of the place with a very nice café restaurant. Of course the most interesting things are the exhibits. It’s still run by the family of the original collector so they know all about the exhibits. Also had interesting quizzes for content of different ages. Plus a very nice gift shop.
It is wonderful! There are so many absolutely stunning displays of fossils, rock gems and crystals with supporting detailed information. Staff are knowledgeable, helpful and always ready to answer any questions. I would highly recomend a visit when in the area.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait

Great place to spend a rainy morning. Owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The collection itself is stunning, so many beautiful gems and my kids and I learned a lot about rocks and gems. Cafe was good too, really hearty soup, nice strong coffee and a delicious treacle tart.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
A stunning museum for young and old. You can't help but be amazed at some of the exhibits, and for me they were all amazing. My favourite exhibits were the quartz, insanely beautiful. Very well presented, very clean and very sparkly! It's not a huge museum, but there is plenty to see and I really recommend that you take your time at each exhibit because otherwise you'll miss some fascinating and beautiful things. Many exhibits are not behind glass, some are really huge. The café was a very pleasant bonus. It's a great size, plenty of seating including a pair of settees close to a log burner, that was nice! Food was lovely, staff were very careful with my coeliac requirements and they were really on the ball, brilliant. It's rare that a café has gluten free bread, but this one did, and I felt it was my birthday when I had a toasted bacon sandwich! The gift shop is a good size too. Lots of genuinely good quality things, not just souvenirs, but genuinely nice things to treat yourself to. They also had a superb range of "raw" gems and rocks that you could buy. I bought a huge piece of Mica which I've always been fascinated with. All the staff in the museum, the cafe and the shop were so friendly and helpful. Entry fee was very reasonable, a perfect afternoon! Oh finally, if you have an EV, there is a charging station 5 minutes walk away, so it's perfect for a good charge while you visit the Gem Rock Museum .
Well worth a visit even if you think Gem Rocks naw not for me. An educational revelation, revealing so much information you never knew about some very every day materials and where they are sourced from. Opportunity to buy Gemstones created on site. There is a comprehensive restaurant also which we did not try out this time around. But we will on our return.
