Wonderful hotel! Really enjoyed our stay in Craiglands. Our room was lovely very clean with an absolutely sparkling bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meals way surpassed our expectations, delicious! All of the staff were professional and friendly and a pleasure to chat with Rooms: Really enjoyed our stay in Craiglands. Our room was lovely very clean with an absolutely sparkling bathroom. Lovely comfortable homely hotel. The staff are excellent being very professional, polite and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We always enjoy our weekend breaks there. Rooms: Large and well fitted. Also the best"wet room"weve ever had. Food & drinks: Lovely food with a good menu.
Beautiful part of Yorkshire, stunning architecture, but a young man called Maj was ever so helpful, polite and well mannered. He made our visit memorable. I hope they reward this young man for his hard work and dedication.Rooms: 4/5
Will possibly not be back. Booked a TWIN room on trip advisor but got one double bed with no chance to swap as hotel fully booked. After some "discussion" got a discount even though my booking emails said TWIN . Reception was unmanned so needed a buzzer to get overworked staff to come from serving food. Breakfast okay but have had better in many other places. Sorry but this all ruined a significant birthday treat visit for my wife. Rooms: Double bed in room when booked TWIN. Reception man tried to argue we were wrong till I showed him the emails with TWIN room written. No chance to change as fully booked.dedpue loads of emails about upgrading in the week. Food & drinks: Breakfast very average sadly bacon excellent but needed to order eggs and long wait so bacon etc cold by time eggs arrived
Massive place .. lots of green grounds .. although there is a lift, we had stairs to negotiate to get to our room. Breakfast was good quality, adequate but not stunning. Notices gave three different breakfast open times but staff politely checked we were finished without rushing us. Reception kindly lent me a phone charger .. thanks.Rooms: 5/5
Nice hotel but not a lot of atmosphere in the bar. Quite quiet. Room was fine. Food was a bit expensive. £20 for burger chips and coleslaw and it was just basically pub grub. Veg curry the same but just like a dhal with overcooked rice hard lumps, hard naan bread. Quite bland and no texture or substance to it. Nice grounds and peaceful. Doubt if I'll be back but probably a good place for walkers to stay.
Overall we loved the area and location of the hotel. 1. Rooms The shower was just right, but not much room to dry yourself effectively. There was a noise that committed every soften from the bathroom which does wake you up. There are all the essentials you need for been away, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, tea making facility, and heating which was on and was very warm all night. 2. Service Reception very welcoming and polite and provided all correct instructions for breakfast and evening meal. The big issue I has was the waiter in the restaurant and cook. The waiter first confirmed that the soup of the day was tomatoes soup. When it arrived it was leak and potatoe. All I got was, oh I said it was tomatoes looking at the green coloured soup and said, my fault, it's actually leak and potatoe. I ordered for the main a cajun spiced chicken burger, which not well over cooked and very dry as you will see in my pics. 3. Location The hotel I well situated with a short walking distance to all the shops, venues, restaurants and bus station. Situated in its own grounds with plenty of parking space and picturesque views. Would we stay again, no, a bit pricey, restaurants very poor menu options and again overpriced.
Where do I start. I attended my friend's wedding this weekend and booking the hotel room to start with was a nightmare. The wedding was nothing like what was promised, the food was dreadfull and the staff uninterested. The staff was saying no money gets put into the place and it is going downhill and they cannot wait to find a new job.. this speaks numbers. The table cloths were dirty which matched the bedsheets being dirty too. All in all I'm glad I will never have to return to this place. Such a beautiful looking place from the outside and its a shame I cannot say the same from the inside.
We had our wedding here 25/05/24 it was perfect from start to finish. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It was worth every pennyRooms: 4/5
From this lovely old hotel you can venture off into the vast countryside, or pop into the little town and grab a bite to eat, or coffe on one of several eateries, overall a nice experience, large room, well appointed, luxury bathroom, and huge bed. Plenty of hanging space for your clothes, it was very quiet, no noise during our stay, even though a little outside of the busy period.
