Story

A dynamic centre of worship and mission, a place of pilgrimage, liturgical creativity, healing; a focus for reconciliation; education and the arts; a venue for national services and broadcasts; a focal point for the City, Diocese and even for the world.

Mission

Coventry Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral and has been a place of Christian worship for over 1,000 years. It is the principal church of the Bishop of Coventry and the mother church of the Diocese of Coventry, a geographical area also encompassing 239 parish churches and communities.

Because of our history, and especially the events of 14 November 1940, we believe Coventry Cathedral has a special responsibility to take the message of reconciliation across the world. We consider this ministry to be our particular calling from God.

I would recommend this place to everyone single person. Breathtakingly beautiful and the cathedral is an interesting space. Even outside it’s gorgeous. So many details to take in. Inside the cathedral it’s beautiful. Outside it’s fresh and green. Not too busy and there is a little museum nearby.
Fantastic. Old & New! We've been 3x within the last year. The 1st time, my husband & I & twice since then with friends & family. Everyone loved the experience. Make sure you check the hours to go early enough & do try walk through the museum in the destroyed cathedral; well worth the extra time.
It is a captivating blend of history and modernity, brimming with tales of the past and visions for the future. Steeped in rich history, it stands as a testament to resilience and renewal. Its ancient walls whisper stories of bygone eras, while its contemporary architecture inspires hope for tomorrow. A visit here is not just a journey through time, but a poignant reminder of the importance of learning from our collective mistakes. Truly a must-see destination for those seeking both enlightenment and inspiration.
Stunning cathedral with an impressive history. They haven't let the negatives ruin things they've stayed close to God and are sending out a wonderful message. Very clean, friendly staff and apart from one floor is wheelchair accessible
There are two cathedrals right next to each other. There is the bombed out shell of the old cathedral and down the steps is the newer cathedral which does have a 1950s/1960s. Although impressive as a building, it hasn't aged well. If you do visit the new cathedral - do give them a donation. There is a card reader for those who dont carry cash.
