A deep sense of history with lovely gardens and a great tea room. You could spend a whole day across the estate. Be prepared for hills and a stiff walk if you want to explore beyond the house and formal gardens. But there is no great need as the house and garden offer a lot. The approach roads are narrow so be careful but are ok for the average driver.
Awesome.... The Trust team there make you feel so welcome... Wonderful house and gardens... The woodland and riverside walks are magical... We were lucky enough tibse the Christmas garland this year... Simply stunning.. Made from flowers grown and dried by the staff at Cotehele..Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Great place to visit as always. Really did explore the grounds this time as we have visited the house many times before and only spent a little time in the garden and grounds. Walked all over this time. Lunch was great here too.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Lovely relaxing day to be had at Cotehele. The house is lovely, gardens are amazing and the staff are so helpful and very knowledgeable, the cafe is really inexpensive. A stunning place and the Quay is a must see too.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
So much to see, loved the house especially the arms and armour in great hall. Gardens and woods great. Easy walk to Quay and Mill loved both especially workshops at both. Would definitely visit again.
This is in fact a holiday cottage. Everything you could need. Very comfy and very quiet. We had a lot of rain the week we stayed but it did not diminish our holiday. National Trust staff and volunteers were a joy to spend time with and made us feel so welcome. Can't praise them enough. Lovely walks from the doorstep. Nice walk to the pubs in Calstock. Also various walks up to Cotehele house and its beautiful gardens. There is a Potter who has a workshop behind the cottage and he is definitely worth a visit. Oh and mustn't forget Dusty, the local cat, he will appreciate any treats that comes his way. We definitely will stay here again.
Lovely big property with much to do and see. Lovely house and beautiful gardens. Lovely woodland walks with river views and serval other historic buildings to visit such as Chapel, Boathouses and Mill. For those that have mobility issues you may want to use the upper car park for the house and gardens and Lowe carpark for Mill and Boathouses.
Excellent place to visit. We visited the quay and did the 4 mile walk through the wood to the wider and back via the mill to the quay. The Cotehele gardens were lovely also the orchards
Lovely location for a visit, with the flower garland on display. Very knowledgeable and friendly guides. The tea room is large and has a good selection of cakes, including gluten free. Dogs are allowed in many of the areas on the estate and it is very dog friendly. The walk down to the quay is quite steep, there is a volunteer-driven bus up and down if needed. Disabled parking is right by the house.
Lovely house and gardens, the service in the cafe was very slow. There is a mini bus that runs between the house, the quay and the mill. Nice walk but you need to be fit.
