This place is very good for the price. Near to the station, easy access from the motorway, 20 minutes from the ferry terminal at Dover. Surrounded by decent places to eat but set back from the high street so it’s quiet. My room was small but kept very clean. Shared bathroom/wc which may put some off but it was fine with me. Martin, who is the manager, was very helpful. There was a lovely terrace on the first floor overlooking the car park and great to sit out on after a hot day. All in all great value and strategically placed for the channel crossings.
My room, single en-suite had everything in it that I needed. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. On the downside the room smelt of stale cigarette smoke, as did the hallway and in the early hours of the morning someone seemed to be smoking resulting in discomfort for me. It appears to be a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was in the cafe next door. I would describe cornerstone as a functional and well located facility. However due to the cigarette smoke I will not be returning.
Extremely loud, small rooms and even smaller beds. It’s difficult to know whether it will be the noise from the bar street, the staff, the other guest or the trash-eating-seagulls that will ruin your nights, but you will not get any sleep. In the few days we stayed here, we also lost water in our room for several hours and were told to stay in our room and lock the door by two police officers investigating something in one of the other hotel rooms. When we left two other officers were at the front desk to investigate a break in that had happened during the night.
I had an issues with travel for early morning for the Eurostar, called and asked if they has space, and thankfully had room for me, the lovely lady that i spoke to on the phone said she would wait for me at the desk til i made my way over and was very helpful and lovely to speak to! The bed was really comfortable, for the amount of rooms i have stayed it, that was the best I have slept before an early start!
Terrible service, nobody seemed to be around when I needed something fixed, also the breakfast is actually in the high St, which you are supposed to get a coupon for. I eventually found the café but I wasn't given any coupon which was embarrassing. I went to get my coupon and was told I should have been given them on arrival but still only gave me one, even though we were staying another few days. I came back from a day out to find out that the power was off in my room. I had to wake up a girl who couldn't understand English and had to call someone to tell her where the switch was. I could go on. Totally unsatisfactory!
I love the owner, but he hotel is bad. 7 days in that place and they brought new toilet paper only once. Something resembling fungi was growing in the tea kettle because noone cleaned it. Noone cleaned the room and finally... There is no glass on the roof window. It was freezing
What an amazing place staff are friendly the rooms are amazing I mean cant ask for more for the price and most of all it feels like home when you're there comfortable and relaxing the only thing is the dam seagulls singing in the morning all in all amazing anyone reads this check the cornerstone out you wont be disappointedRooms: 5/5
Perfect hospitality in traditional inn .convenient fur Eurostar travel. Traditional English breakfast in adjoining café .lovely place for a night or 3
Good value place to stay in centre of Ashford. We did have a couple of issues but the staff were very attentive and sorted things for us.
Very central location and surprisingly quiet. The rooms are clean and comfortable, it offers great value for money.
