COOP Chicken House

About

Chicken cooked rotisserie style over our open fire-pit. Simple food done well.

Story

COOP Chicken House is located just a minutes walk from Newcastle's Central Station on Collingwood Street, dead opposite Revolution Vodka Bar and across the way from some of the town's most popular bars and clubs.

We're all about simple food done well with a laid-back & non-fussy approach. Think tables full to bursting with wood-fired chicken, charred corn, sweet potato fries and homemade slaw washed down with a pint or two of the local brew.

Whether you are looking to hire the whole venue (capacity 50), a large family booking, a table for two or a lone-wolf business type you'll be met with a warm welcome and some of the finest chicken around at COOP Chicken House.

For groups of eight or more please contact us directly to book tables either by phone or email.

Would recommend this place on balance. Especially their whole rotisserie chicken which was reminiscent of a Portuguese Churrascaria. The chips were very good, and a very wide range of hot sauces to taste with it added good variety of flavour to those and the chicken. On the downsides, the beer wasn't that cold & the service was slow. I didn't have any but the fried chicken looked a tad dry.
My favourite today is the sun-dried tomato salad. Although the whole chicken is top recommended, I love the wings better which got more different flavours to choose. It’s a nice & relaxing place.
Venue = cool. Service = very good. Chicken = disappointing. The burger is nice but the chicken isn't noticeable. The quality of the wings is below standard for Newcastle broken bones and lacking meat. They are frugal on sauce, both on the wings and the "saucy" burger. Worth a try but I wouldn't go back.
Popped in on a Friday lunchtime. Busy with locals and a really great vibe. Service was really great though wait time on food was a little long. Chicken as desired was perfect though sides were a little disappointing. Sweet potato fries could have been hotter and the grilled corn was soggy, cooked too long perhaps. Needs to be hotter and fresher. 1/4 chicken and the two sides with a cider came to 14.60. I’d definitely come back, but I’d mention freshness was a problem last time.
Best chicken wings I've had in years, the wings were meatier than I've experienced in other places serving wings. Plenty of sauces to choose from, serving them in shot glasses works really well. Service was excellent. Great value too. I'll be back!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Coop Chicken House and I have to say, it was an exceptional experience. The marinated chicken strips were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The spicy sauce that the chicken was marinated in was a perfect balance of heat and flavor, and it was clear that the chicken had been marinated for the perfect amount of time to infuse the flavors throughout. While the chicken strips weren't crispy, they were still cooked to perfection and had a delicious texture that was tender and juicy. The service at Coop Chicken House was also top-notch. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they went out of their way to ensure that every customer had an enjoyable dining experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Coop Chicken House to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service. The marinated chicken strips are a must-try, and the staff will make sure that you have a great experience from start to finish. Coop Chicken House is a true gem that is not to be missed.
COOP has an absolutely great atmosphere, I’m not sure if he’s the owner but one of the members of staff is super friendly and always makes you laugh and feel right at home. The selection of chicken and flavours is just second to none there’s not many better places around than COOP. The wood fire makes the meat super tender, I highly recommend coming here.
Food was delicious. Massive portions, could barely get through what we ordered! Chicken salad needs a bit more salad, was very chicken heavy. Staff were friendly.Food: 5/5
Absolutely the best chicken in Newcastle, be it wings, strippers or burgers. The real star is the amazing range of sauces available for that chicken, all delicious and varied, you can get either a shot seen in the pictures or take a whole bottle home with you. Highly recommend bringing friends so you have an excuse to order loads and share
Best chicken I have ever tasted, and the hot sauces! Delicious. Belated father's day gift, son & daughter both chose COOP and it did not fail to please. Chicken just fell off the bones, we sampled all of the sides and all were eaten, as were the 2 whole chickens. No room for desserts I'm afraid. Great food and Great staff, what more would you need?
