Excellent - unpretentious, affordable, generous portions, good service, and good tunes.
My brother and I visited the cafe for the first time in over 40 years. As kids we came here with our parents when we lived in Dalkeith but moved away all those years ago. So it was a special occasion as we reminisced. When you enter there are a couple of tables at floor level but we had to go up the stairs like kids. Sat st the window where you looked over the top and down to people passing. Food was great I had a panini with my latte. Served hot with side salad. The services was excellent, very friendly and even more interested when we we're asked what brought us here and gave the nostalgic answer. I'm so glad we went here. I hope to return sooner than the previous visit.
Great food and lovely staff. Really nice white coffee and tea. My boyfriend and and I ordered a cheese toastie and an omelette on toast at about 3pm . Fast service, by a lovely family. We both enjoyed our meals here. Big portions, value for money. The toilet was spotless downstairs. I recommend visiting this cafe the next time your in Dalkeith.
A traditional cafe, food is always excellent, with good size portions and the sevice is great, a family run place, highly recommended.Food: 5/5
Avoid. Food dreadful. Overcooked baked potato which I actually thought might be mashed potato. Cheap cheese with no flavour and strangely orangey neon beans. At least now I know not to go there.Food: 1/5
Absolutely, hands down, one of thee best all day breakfasts had. Proper mug of tea, food cooked beautifully, having travelled this was a great find and will be returning. Great customer service
Good food, nice 80s layout, however the fact they don't accept card is mind blowing. I would be a regular if they accepted card. Shame.
Took my elderly mum for a trip down memory lane. Not good. Food was expensive and got order wrongbacon on my panini when said I dont eat meat, waited an age on a bowl of soup to be brought. Worst was being sat near an open bin, leftovers being thrown in whilst the lady clattered through washing the dishes. Sadly, won't be back.

Visited this Cafe by pure chance. Was totally suprised at how good the Food was and how reasonable the cost was. The Staff made us feel welcome and served up excellent food. Even though they were very busy they still kept smiling.Food: 5/5
