Would give theatre more and have seen many good shows there.nWent to see Grease Saturday. Left 10 minutes into second half. Poor casting, Danny had no charisma and I'm afraid the whole thing was flat. The guy who played the DJ was excellent.
I am very surprised the Congress Theatre allowed the show An Officer And A Gentleman to go ahead actually! In its present format. The male actors are crude from the start, one even did his flies up, lingeringly and lasiviously on stage! The crude gesticulations and sexist language was frankly gross and should not be part of any public show in our times. Shame on all of you who acted in the show, those who cheered loudly and on the Congress management. In this day and age, that lewd performance is totally out of place. I felt sullied on leaving in fact I'd have left at the very start, was I not with a group of good friends.nAlso I can find nowhere on the actual show to put on a review, handy that! Went to see Illegal Eagles, the band was very good, crowd was very appreciative of them and joined in with clapping and singing. Staff had at all under control as the evening finished, only down side there is no draft beer in downstairs bar but other than that a great place to see a live band.
Went to see Fake Lionel Richie. Was a very good venue, nicely smartened up. Lots of staff, easy to get served. Small criticism is the floor in the main auditorium, old looking tiles, give it a cold feel. Bring back the carpet.
Fantastic evening watching Diversity...had me in tears it was so good, very loud, but love that!!
