Stopped off for a snack at 11.30 a.m. en route. We were made very welcome and offered a window table for two. Fun to see the planes taking off. Ordered drinks which were prepared straightaway, coffee was good, and a BLT baguette which was delicious. It was a busy Saturday and we arrived between breakfast menu which finishes at 11.00 a.m. and lunch menu served from 12 noon bur there was still plenty to choose from. Well behaved children were welcome which we were pleased to see. Toilets were fine. We'll return next time we travel that way.
Very good bacon sandwich and excellent large coffee. Quick service by friendly, helpful team. Smiles all round. Not just popular with pilots as happy bikers were tucking in tooFood: 5/5
My husband and I met at this cafe in 2016 so decided to visit today, our Anniversary. We have fond memories and thought we’d return for a romantic trip on our motorcycles. How awful a visit! A sign says ‘ring bell on arrival’. I did so - entered the half full cafe, lunchtime. A rude lady asked me if I’d rang the bell! I had followed the sign’s instructions and was made to feel embarrassed in front of other visitors. Next we took seats, then told by the same lady could we move to a table at the rear of the cafe! We instead moved to a small 2 seat table against a wall. Young serving staff abrupt and dour. At the counter my husband was shown up by the same lady - was told there was no pots of tea, just cups when he made an order. She told him he the customer was rude! The table where we had first seated was empty, I left feeling embarrassed and upset by the visit. A pity, should have been a memorable day. Motorcycles no longer welcome. Signs everywhere saying no parking, no specific place for motorcycles.
After reading good reviews we travelled over an hour for a pleasant lunch only to find they were full and not accepting any waiting. Not taking bookings until 11th October, not much good on the 9th. Website says Runway cafe will be open on busy weekends. It was not open and other groups in cars parked near us were equally disappointed. Total waste of journey and nothing much to see on the airfield.
Booked as one our party was having a flight experience. When we arrived there power had just gone out so had no electricity. Still managed to serve 11 of us sandwiches, cold drinks and cakes as well as other tables. The staff were organised, calm and very friendly/accomodating. We will be back!
What a rude and super snobby reception followed by insults and accusations. My wife of 6 years and I first met here when I flew in from Canada. We now live locally and sometimes like to drop in for a quick romantic cuppa now and then. This time was very different. We heard the Guy Ritchie just bought the place - we heard also he is a friendly chap as a man in our village shoots on his estate. I walked in to find a quiet table and a lady accosted my wife to ask if she had rang a bell… this dour and unpleasant woman then tried to tell us we should sit in some back room where there was a sign saying no entry, then we should not sit at this table as she is expecting a large group 4 chair table! with no reservation notice on it- so finally we sit down- I am a wounded war veteran so I can only sit near to a wall to lean on. I walked without my stick to order tea and this same nasty woman said she doesn’t do teapots for two - fair enough I thought - would you like mugs? Yes and a bacon sandwich to which she replied there is no need to be rude- totally offended was I but said nothing - I have spoken to royalty in my life and never had such aggressive snobbery. Can you pay by card she asked as if I didn’t know what a card payment is- I used to work for Google a few years back. I took the tray of tea that took three people to make sat down and supped - it was very nice yea. My bacon sandwich was brought by a young lady - I thanked her very kindly and she was a little abrupt- we discussed our experiences and my wife was pretty upset by all of this. It’s an airfield cafe not the Ritz. I resolved that we will not be hurried. We saw some other motorcyclists arrive and get a similar reception - very well dressed off road sportsman riders getting shuffled around like tramps. Well, cafes can change hands but regulars pay their bills. I would say that at least three quarters of the people we saw there in half an hour were really unhappy at the condescending service. We shall not be perturbed though - it’s our first meeting Romance and we will return and turn the tables on such appalling customer service. You however, should consider all of this this before your first visit. Parking: Notices all over the place about where and where not to park.
Went in for coffee and ended up having breakfast as well a delightful server with a great smile and humour was a delight to experience plus you get to see the planes taking off.Food: 5/5
My husband and I used to come here on route back from Bournemouth,, sadly he passed away 4 years ago, I came up by myself one day just to sit and remember him, I had my little dog in the car, I was about to let him out for a drink of water when I was rudely shouted at , no dogs aloud here. Please clarify.
Unassuming eatery with fabulous views over the Blackmore Vale particularly on a fine day where there is also plenty of outdoor seating if you so choose. We had a window seat and we're able to enjoy a ringside view of the aircraft taking off and landing. The menu is small, nevertheless our coffee & croissants were of excellent quality and the two ladies serving us were very pleasant and friendly.
Really lovely Café, great for a quick pit stop or a leisurely lunch whilst watching the planes. Lovely food and serviceFood: 5/5
