Really pleasant refurbished warehouse in the Eskmills Estate. We popped in around 2pm on a Sunday and they still had a good selection of cakes, pastries and bread. The service was friendly and effective, and we were in and out in a few minutes. The cheese scones with whipped butter were delicious with a good cheesy twang to them. The carrot cake was a good balance of sticky texture and lightness, and the buttercream on top was light and airy. The seating area inside looked nice and airy and open, and there’s a few tables outside to sit at as well. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Having visited this place when there was just a cool wee converted horse trailer, I knew when the bakery opened itself, it was going to be a good number of return trips.nnPopped down with family on Saturday, and wow, this place looks amazing. Sadly, there were no indoor seats, but we got outside, and it was a semi nice day, soaking up perhaps the last of the Scottish summer haha.nnWe got some coffee, delicious for sure, but we were here for the cakes, wow, we actually got 4 and shared them all, all super amazing and delicious, we will he back for sure.nnThe staff are super friendly and helpful, prompt service and super clean feels to this place.nnLove it
Visited today for a late breakfast and coffee. Busier than expected for the time of day but didn't have to wait too long to be served. Interesting range of sweet and savoury options, not just the usual bakery staples. Bakery items are served at the counter and hot drinks are brought to your table when ready. Each item was served on its own small plate but we could really have done with a tray.nnPrices vary by item but estimate about £4 each, although some items will be less.nnThe roasted veg pizzette was a little hard to cut but tasty, with fresh herbs delivering a nice finish. Plum, almond and ricotta cake was very nice, not too sweet, and had a nice hint of lemon zest too. Coffee custard brioche with nuts was also good, maybe sweeter than expected but still tasty. Double baked morning roll with coconut and orange was very well balanced, and again not too sweet. Overall good quality, maybe not *quite* as good as my favourites but not far off. Better value than a lot of the Edinburgh bakery/café competition.nnThe coffee was also good, not sure which supplier it was from though as they sell beans from several sources. Our long blacks were served fairly quickly, despite how busy it was starting to get.nnLots of light and space, with a good balance between larger tables and the window counter seats. Wasn't too noisy but could imagine it getting a bit less peaceful at weekends especially.nnWill definitely be back - it's great to have a solid bakery and café option closer than Edinburgh/Haddington/North Berwick.
Thoroughly excellent bread!nnStopped off here for a bite to eat not expecting much and were very pleasantly surprised.nnFocaccia with grapes and stilton, the bread itself had a lovely chewy texture and the flavour was on point. The addition of grapes and cheese gave this a perfect balance of salt and sweet. It was so good we ended up taking two more slices on the way out to have at home. 9/10nnCoronation chickpea roll, wife had this and found it very tasty. Originally thought it was coronation chicken, but it was no less tasty for the lack of meat. 8/10nnService staff were really friendly and we had a good chat with one waitress as they were closing up.
Superb bakery tucked in before Eskmills venue.nGreat stop off after a long dog walk along the esk.nShakshuka brioche, spinach pizzata, cheese scone and whipped butter, ginger loaf and cinnamon bun are all winners!!nMachina beans for the coffee win too.nAlways a friendly welcome and smile, and dog friendly so the pooch is happy too.
