It was lovely to return to the Common Room Cafe and we got a warm welcome and felt instantly at home in the wonderful atmosphere. I absolutely love how colourful and interesting it is and there’s plenty to feast your eyes on whilst waiting for your delicious food to be prepared. The atmosphere is further added to by great sounds and it is truly a place of character. The food is wonderful and plenty to choose from as well as a daily specials board. I had the best Quiche that I’ve ever had and the accompanying home made coleslaw and salad with a homemade dressing were equally delicious. It’s an absolute joy to visit and the friendly and very efficient staff really make it. I will make a point of returning when I get the opportunity. Many thanks
Completely wonderful from start to finish. The cafe is a warm and welcoming place, with a lovely cosy vibe. The staff are friendly and courteous. The menu and Specials Board display a good range of food which is very reasonably priced. The cakes looked delicious but unfortunately we were too full after our delicious lunch steak and ale pie and venison cottage pie accompanied by onion gravy and a good selection of vegetables. We’d love to go back and sample the cakes and puddings on offer I had my eye on treacle tart another time.
This cafe was recommended to us by the Run Director of the Thomas Mills parkrun and it did not disappoint! On arrival at 11.30 on a Saturday we were fortunate to get the last table. It took another 15 minutes to take our order despite having three waitong staff and another 20 minutes for the food to come but that was ok for us as we needed a good sit down and a rest. It was also definitely worth waiting for. Only downsides were the wait and the ambience was a little noisy for me. That said I would definitely go back.
What a great find! We came for lunch with friends. Although it was busy and there was a queue, we were immediately welcomed and a table for five was quickly found. The atmosphere, food and service were all excellent. We all have very different tastes yet there was plenty of choice from the menu and specials to suit everyone. We'll definitely be back.

Quirky interior but great looking at the pictures etc on the wallsnStopped here for brekkie after Parkrun at Thomas Mills High School.nVaried menu inc kippers, filled roll, granola and three excellent cooked breakfasts; full, vegan and veggie - all £12:95 Inc a drink and a choice of bread for toast. All food freshly cooked to order. Sausage and bubble & squeak were delicious. Plentiful portion size. Friendly staff.n£15 pp Inc a tip.
