Who doesn’t love a ruined castle?! Fab to wander around and great for hide and seek. Small playground adjacent with swings and rope climbing/spinning thingy!
Lovely place to take a stroll and get away from it all. A must see.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Just arrived here to find it shut despite cadw and Google stating it is open from 10am til 4pm. We've got one very upset toddler on our hands but while we're in the area we will try Ogmore castle and hope for better luck.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
First time to this castle and although there isn’t much you can go into or up it is free to enter. Plenty of space for kids to run around including the remains of the now empty moat. There is a kids play park by the small car park. If your take an interest is castles this should be on your list.
We got a little confused finding the entrance, probably my fault as I wasn't paying enough attention. There is a road that has a shop/post office on the corner. If you head up there, you'll see the entry to the castle. There is a little gravel carpark outside with room for a handful of cars. Beautiful ruins. There are 2 information boards at the entrance gate. Would have been interesting if there were a few more boards placed throughout explaining what we were looking at, but it's free, so I can't really grumble.
Awesome castle ruins and very well looked after. Entrance is opposite to the post office Bad points. The rubbish in and around the sunken parts of the castle is heartbreaking to see. TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU !!!!
Beautiful remains, a little spot of peace + history in the middle of town. Well looked after + hopefully it won't deteriorate further. Well worth an hour to walk around + just sit + think.
Coity Castle is a great little castle only a few minutes drive from Bridgend or alternatively you could catch the local bus to the Coity post office which is only a 150m walk away. The castle grounds are quite small but you can take a walk around the perimeter to get a better idea of how big it once was. The grounds themselves are idea for picnics and basking in the sun but i can’t imagine spending more than a couple of hours without wanting to move on. You can also climb quite high if you ignore the warnings climb up the broken staircases.
A lovely, quaint castle nestled in a quiet village. Would definitely recommend for a family day out. The space is also secure and safe for dogs.
Lovely place was a lot bigger than I was expecting my son loved it so did I. Nice too see that they named most parts of the building so we were able too workout what they used too be when it was all intact.
