Quirky and non pretentious, our overnight stay in the small but adequate room was quite acceptable if one does not fuss about crisp linen. After a reasonable shower, our breakfast was unexpectedly good! A superb range of cooked meals perfectly served with a air of past grandeur. Chef was even kind enough to serve an appreciated plate of sausage for our little dog! If you like the unusual do try it and bring your dog too, he won't be disappointed either.
If you had a booking at cliff hotel, please cancel it right after you saw my review. Terrible smell from host's dogs, rooms are old and dirty, the host himself is very mean and not being kind or polite at all to his guests. Trust me, any other b&b would be your better choice.
LOL THE OWNERS IN PRISON Unfortunately I had the pleasure of making a reservation on new years eve, sadly on my 4 hour drive it became apparent I wouldn't be able to make it due to car trouble, DONE ME A FAVOR JUDGING BY HIS REVIEWS ON GOOGLE AND T. A!. The next day I checked my bank and found the absolute chief still took full payment for a room I never even got to stay in! Even charged me for a breakfast!. If I knew I was paying I would of sent a homeless person there rather than just paying for nothing. NEVER EVER EVER GIVE THESE FRAUDSTERS YOUR CARD DETAILS!!. Even if it's a "booking reference" and even if he states "payment will be taken on arrival"!!. In all fairness I wouldn't of minded a cancellation fee even though it was reserved for less than 3 hours. I've been robbed by this place/guy Mr rodda and I have seen other reviews stating the same "you booked it you pay for it" policy this place uses. Amongst the other claims of poor hygiene and decor.
"Do you think there are rats?" whispered my wife as we walked up the filthy stairs. And if you have to ask, you're probably not where you want to be. Absolutely filthy, smelly, weird hotel run by the local eccentric and his dogs. Would not recommend. At all. Ever. Sleeping in the car would have been less traumatic. Do not book. If you have booked: cancel while you still can!
Only advice I can give is don't ....TV don't work , coldest shower I've ever had misfortune to use. Place is dropping to bits .. You start scratching the second you walk into your room ...this cost £60 per night .. Sorry but I wouldn't pay £6 .. I only have 1 good thing about this place . Owner is a great chap and because of ghat I'm being over fair
Our stay here was memorable in that we never want to go to Penzance again. The hotel was dirty and in need of a good clean. Our beds in our room had not been made up. I don't think the bedding had been changed since the last guests. While taking an afternoon nap someone came into the room. Which was awkward. So in conclusion find somewhere else to stay.
The must surreal experience EVER! Would be a great place to stay on halloween, the all singing owner, manager, chef, receptionist, chambermaid No sign of a cleaner was the most interesting guy you could meet. STAY HERE AT YOUR PERIL!
Well owner certainly ain't ever seen an iron which ain't much of an inspirational first, not sure if he's a tosser but I'm sure he's had a tug or two in his time. Don't think any money has been spent since 1981, at a guess, might be 1975...who knows?!?!?! Haven't started itching yet...at the end of the day, it's the height of the season, tip of cornwalls good for a few days, and it's only £87 Inc breakfast for a family suite per night...I once stayed in Udaipur in India in a room for 37p...it's better than that....coincidentally The Turks head pub in town provided a moderately tasty and very small expensive meal which I complained about and got the meal for 5 for free....stand up for your rights u spineless British fools!!!!
This place is outdated and would need a proper crean up! Lobby smells really badly crowded with craps... room was ok but bathroom and bath was clean. When we were away in morning someone looked around in the room this is disgusting! I would not recommend to anyone
Would like to thank the owner of the Cliff Hotel, not having a smart phone and, needing use of a computer and printer to book a coach ticket home as a matter of urgency, the owner aloud me to use his. This was late at night and i was not a guest at the Cliff Hotel. Thank You
