Grossly overpriced and not up to par. We stayed in the tree house at the start of February and paid £550.00 for 2 nights. We've never spent this amount of money per night on accommodation, but we wanted to treat ourselves. We were expecting a wonderful, luxurious experience as advertised, however, this was not the case sadly. The proprietors are not upfront about some of the 'quirks' or lack of amenities. There is no mention that the treehouse has no tv, radio or wifi. Some won't mind a digital detox but it should be indicated. You have to climb over part of the tree to get to the toilet. This was not something I could do easily and had to crawl on the floor under the branch, which was also unpleasant. The toilet, although screened off, does not have a door. Not very romantic! There are other things that we complained about as well. Basically, if you remove the nice bath and comfortable bed, you are staying in a glorified shed. It was more of a glamping experience and for the money we spent we could have stayed at a beautiful hotel.
We stayed at the coop for two nights in December and had the best time. Even in winter, the location is beautiful and very secluded. Everything was clean, comfortable and very cozy. I would recommend bringing a portable light if you would like to use the bath/be outside after dark and hob cooked meals if you want to cook. Thank you for a lovely stay!
We stayed in the Nook for 2 nights with our dog. The weather was very wet which probably didn’t help but the accommodation felt claustrophobic rather than quaintly small. There wasn’t any storage at all and the kitchen wasn’t very well equipped very old pans, limited counter space which wasn’t level at all, no storage in the fridge door, no scissors, no appliances which meant you had to go out to eat realistically. It’s a lovely setting and very peaceful. But we couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed for the price paid.
Stayed at The Nook and was a little disappointed. The accommodation is in need of repair and renovation and isn’t up to the standard expected from the price. The kitchen window was broken so when I opened it the glass slipped out of the frame as it was rotted. The torch batteries hadn’t been replaced in ages so they were dead but also had liquid oozing out and solidifying. There was leftover food still on the floor. The couch was stained and smelled musty. The toilet took over 30 mins to refill the tank very annoying in the middle of the night. Advertised as accommodating 4 but only 2 spoons, 2 plates and seating for 2. However the location was great. Grounds were well maintained and you did feel in the middle of nowhere despite being close to London.
Beautiful place to stay, really peaceful retreat with beautiful walks/runs to do nearby. Amazing views through the roof over the fields, watched a lovely sunset. The see through windows give it the edge aswell as the outdoor shower and hot tub bath. Love to go back again. Hosts were very responsive aswell.
We stayed in the old Oak tree house and it was a truely magical and peaceful break. The owners supply all the information you need online, prior to your arrival and so you get maximum privacy. The location is fantastic, where else could you enjoy a morning coffee on a verandah sat in a hammock swing, watching a herd of wild deer . The double bath was an excellent touch. A great experience and a real memory made
The Old Oak Treehouse. What an amazing place so close to civilization yet feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. A tranquil place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life to relax and chill. A place to switch off and listen to the sounds of nature, birds tweeting, pigeons cooing, ducks quacking, the wind rustling through the leaves the boughs creaking gently as they sway. Spot a rabbit a squirrel a deer if you're lucky, even a woodpecker, has the mother duck got 7 or is it 8 ducklings. As for the treehouse it has everything you need to get away and take time out, it's comfortable, inviting even exciting. Plus you'll sleep like you've never slept before. Thank you for an amazing and unique experience.
An amazing break and get away. We stayed in The Nook with our four month old puppy - she loved exploring the field and pond and it was so safe to let her roam. We had a lovely romantic weekend - bath was a lovely addition to relax and watch the sun set - 100% recommend and want to come back to stay in the other hideaways!
10 stars if I could. This place was insanely peaceful and the bathtub was heavenly! I was initially torn between going abroad for my annual leave or visiting Coleman’s Farm for a unique experience, and the fact it’s been on my bucket list for the past year but to be honest, it was the best decision. The staff give you all the privacy you need with no check-in service. Keys were ready by the door, and I was even greeted by a flock of sheeps who were very well behaved! The only thing I wished I knew beforehand was the games in the locker. I only found out on my last night so didn’t get to use the board games during my stay there but other than that, it was an amazing experience and I’d definitely go again. Highly recommend!
For someone who isn't an outdoors/camping fan, this was amazing! It is a lovely place surrounded by calm views and little else to disturb you. the outdoor bath and shower are excellent and the kitchen/WC are all well-stocked enough to get on. The trails listed on the website are a good indication of what and how long walks are, but the walk into Ongar high Street was fun, although beware as there are no pavements till nearer the town, if you have kids. A great outdoor stay, unique and chilled.
