I am a member of the fan club, quite literally! Love this place. They show a really good range of films and if you become a member, tickets are cheaper. Membership also gets you a discount from the good restaurant and bar on the ground floor. In the restaurant/bar, a tasty menu is on offer, however they also keep a good range of wines and beers, and serve it at a price that isn't excessive. The restaurant/bar is a great place to hang out in the summer as there is a decked balcony that overlooks the river. The building as a whole is really rather special, though, and has been designed to allow the maximise the amount of natural light inside. It's the best cinema in York, still!

Fantastic Cinema, nice food too. Great for a beer beforehand too. The outside balcony is great on a sunny day. Some good competition from Everyman, but a lot less expensive.

The cinema is great, the food is great, the service is not so good. We went on a Saturday and there was a 15 minute gap between when breakfast and lunch can be ordered - after being served so slowly we went over the breakfast allotted time, we then had to sit and wait until they would even let us place orders for lunch - which then took ages as (and I quote) "we just got loads of orders all at once". Not exactly surprising given all the people waiting an extra 15 minutes to order! Next visit their highly advertised mulled cider, at 6pm on a cold day, was "just heating up, it'll be 5 minutes" for half an hour. Need to employ some better staff and/or give them better training.

Watched the shape of water. Great film. The cinema was fantastic. The best cinema I have been to. The place had a nice atmosphere. Wish I could take this cinema home with me!

Great cinema, friendly staff, good membership deal. The seating placement can be a bit awkward such that you might get unlucky and not be able to see the screen due to who is infront of you. Food is a bit pricy but there's a lovely bar integrated with the cinema which you should definitely check out. They don't show every film but if you like more senior films you won't be disappointed. This cinema is not great for young kids due to the crowd it attracts which can be a pro or a con depending on your situation. Definitely worth checking out with a date or loved one.
