What a lovely church, also has a cafe inside so I'll know next time I have a wedding there. One of our Imperial Viscount Landaulette wedding cars outside.
My favourite church, as it is the church I was baptised and confirmed in, was a choir member and was allowed up on the church roof as a young lad. The church and the marvellous village of Up Holland is steeped in history, being over 700 years old... and it is well worth reading up about that history.
Wonderful service for my son's Christening yesterday. Such a beautiful church with so much history. Lovely, relaxed service and very child friendly. Thank you so much!
I was asked by a friend to take some photographs of the church but what I found was much more. Inside the church is Becket's @The Hub; A community run café, gift shop and returns and drop off point for the Post Office. The prices are very reasonable and the food is home made, one if the best cups of coffee I have had in a long while, and as for their cakes, well simply scrumptious!!! The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, I expect these people are volunteers but hey I'd want to work here too, as it has a relaxing vibe about it. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit, the church is lovely and has picture postcard presence. As you turn into Church Street the church is on the left either along a pathway or down some steps at the front, it's set back off the main road. Take a look round the grounds and then after have a light bite, or a delicious home made cake and a coffee....
Disgusted at the way my brother and I were treated after offering them a free gig to raise funds for the church. The open mic treated us with so much disrespect. The beauty of the church does not reflect in those running it.
Beautiful church at the heart of the community with all kinds of community events taking place throughout the week. Beckett's cafe is open most days inside the church. A good menu with lovely hot drinks at a reasonable price. Fantastic atmosphere any time of year. Lovely to sit outside in the summer months. Warm and cosy in the winter.
Beautiful Church inside and out with a equal beautiful and well looked after graveyard. I enjoy walking through it on my way to Abbey Lakes.
Our aunt died recently, and having lived in UpHolland village for 60years we approached Beckett's Cafe within the church to see if they could provide us with refreshments after the service and burial. The staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. They provided us with five different types of sandwiches, salad, pies, dips and five scrumptious cakes, all home made with copious amounts of tea, coffee and juice. The food was delicious, it was fresh and beautifully presented. Everyone who attended, commented on the quality of the food and the beautiful venue. The volunteers in and around the church are very proud of their parish church, which they see as the hub of their community. They were very knowledgeable and happy to tell people about its history. The church and grounds are lovely and well worth a visit if in the area. I would thoroughly recommend the cafe just for coffee and a sandwich or a piece of cake and definitely as a venue for small events like a funeral. It seemed a fitting place to contemplate, laugh and reminisce about our dearly loved Aunt, in the church of the village she loved so much.
