Scientology is a scam. So, one person has found it very helpful and written an "honest", personal review. Great. That doesn't make up for, or even acknowledge, the experiences of lots of others who have been bankrupted and had familial relationships destroyed. No, people that disagree and question scientology have got to be labelled "conspiracy theory weirdoes". Nice - beautifully displays the cult-like thinking that if you don't like scientology you must be a weirdo. Must have been difficult not to use the special scientology term of "suppressive person". If you need the ramblings of a mediocre science fiction author and serial liar to help motivate you to start a business then maybe scientology is for you. Then, however, as for one positive self-proclaimed atheist reviewer, you might find yourself stalking psychiatrists on google and leaving negative reviews because you have swallowed everything that an unqualified, narcissistic womaniser said about psychiatrists (feelings borne out of resentment because psychiatrists, as qualified professionals, realised dianetics was nothing more than a flash-in-the-pan scam). That hardly comes across as someone "in full control of his thinkingness" (whatever that means). I do think one comment is refreshing though, and that's the admission that scientology is not a religion. It is a self "help" business. If the organisation acknowledged that and stopped trying to pretend it's a religion, stopped spreading harmful propaganda about psychiatry (because they resent the competition) and stopped ruining people's lives, then I would not have a problem with it. It's your life indeed.

Some genuinely weird people writing reviews on here, so as one of the only people who has actually DONE some Scientology, I thought I’d weigh in with a review that’s actually true and useful. (note: Scientology something you do, not something you believe. Hence why there are atheist Scientologists like me, bhuddists, Muslims, Christians all Scientologists). I have been in it 3 years. Heavily atheist background. Big fan of personal development but the results were always fleeting (I.e. temporary highs, didn’t last long, unstable) and I had a lot of swings in mood, productivity, motivation, and ability to handle my life. I went into the church with absolutely no real expectation it would do anything whatsoever. But as I said, Scientology is something you do. No faith required. You don’t need to believe in it. You just need to read it, and then do what it says and see the results. Anyway, long story short, my life is massively transformed as a result. Personal life; I’m now in a stable relationship, I am genuinely always motivated, I have full control over my emotions and thinking ness. I know I can make big things happen and that’s left me very peaceful. Professional life; I applied the tools and 20X’d my income, started a business, and now am international (when I went in I didn’t even dream of owning my own company). So there’s some truth, from a real life Scientologist. You can listen to some conspiracy theory weirdos, you can listen to me. I’d recommend listening to yourself, and seeing it for yourself, and being your own judge. Spend £30, buy a course, apply it and see if it works for you. The Overcoming Ups & Downs one is an easy place to start. But find whatever interests you. It’s organised my topics, you can do whatever you want. Or don’t. It’s your life!

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a duck. See also "Scientology" and "cult".

Lovely people welcomed me in. They led me to a table and we sat and chatted. I liked the man he's nice and has nice teeth. He let me touch a machine and he told me I'm unhappy. I told him I was OK because I was looking at his teeth and they were nice. I saw a digger outside aswell and that made me happy. He told me I was sad deep inside and that if I give them some of my money they would be my friend and I could meet with them more. I liked his teeth because they were nice so I gave him money. I can't afford it but I did it and I'm not happy yet. They tell me to keep coming and I will.
