This small railway station gives great access to Bolton through to Victoria and Piccadilly in Manchester, or Preston and Blackpool. It does have car parking nearby. A day here costs £3. The further away council car parking is more than this. And you can use a specific app to pay for this. It's great to reach these hubs to continue your journey towards the more distant areas. To get to the other side of the two platforms, you need to go down steps into an underpass and up the other steps to the required platform. If your in a wheelchair, you need to be aware of these potential difficulties. It's clean. But no shop. So if your hungry, buy it elsewhere. I choose to buy my tickets through the internet. I use trainline.com as they are really good for both price and fast sending of these tickets. This website is straight - forward to use to buy tickets. As it's often cheaper doing it online this way. I have found that if you buy a ticket for a specified destination and time, if you do the same journey but at a sooner time than what's printed on your ticket, the conductors will complain. I asked why. I know the demarcation of morning and after 10-11 pricing. But changes timing between one train and the immediately prior time for a train. Say it's very cold and you want to stay warm and board the train sooner. They couldn't give me a reason for this. It's just rules. The bus station is close by. Lovely market town village with lots of shops and market stalls in the centre of the town.
Well equipped small train station. Plenty room in waiting area.
I can get anywhere in the country from this train station at the bottom of my road.
