The food is amazing! We had a great veggie pie and a good breakfast too. Top quality ingredients and presentation. A good selection of quality ales too. Service was good, all staff were friendly and polite and welcomed our dog with treats too, so cannot fault at all! There were a few let downs though. 1. There are only 2 veggie options on the menu…not good enough in this day and age really. 2. The room was quite pricey and although it was decorated beautifully and it’s a nice area, there were multiple cobwebs and the toilet and bins had tissue and bits in them on arrival too. 3. It is dog friendly however there are no bins?! They say there are but we only found one right outside the main restaurant door not ideal placement I would visit again for food and drink hopefully there will be more veggie options in future but I wouldn’t stay again.
Lovely, interesting building. Excellent service, efficient and welcoming. All the food we ate was tasty, well cooked and attractively presented. It would be nice to see some seasonal drinks like mulled wine or cider, and a few more dishes that aren't so typically pub grub but I know they have to offer what sells and I'm being picky! We'll be back - fantastic ambience.
Stumbled across this pub by chance. And Wow, what an amazing place. The place is so unique in how it looks and set out for a pub/restaurant. The character they have kept from what was an old school is impressive. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly. I’m going to go and say it’s probably the best pub I’ve been to. Will definitely be going back
Brilliant! We descended on them with a group of 13 with no more than 10 minutes notice and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was excellent, and the pub itself was fabulous... Loved the decor and ambience. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.Service: 5/5
Food excellent. Lovely pub in atmospheric school house. Service a little slow, but worth the wait. I had the curry, delicious and my friends both had the liver and throughly enjoyed it.Service: 4/5
Another lovely meal here, we've been coming here for years because the food is always tasty, well presented and with some unique Cholmondeley twists which we enjoy. Service is always friendly and helpful and the ambiance relaxed and welcoming. Will definitely returnService: 5/5
Tried this place for sunday lunch with friends, nice location was about the best thing. We were crammed in like sardines & if the people on the next table wanted to get out then we had to move too. The chairs were so uncomfortably, wooden seats with no cushions, I get its trying to represent an old school but your serving adults. Waiting at the bar was also trying as there was a large queue requiring drinks so table service for food would be advantageous. Then we waited & waited, so from the time of trying to order then to recieving lunch an hour passed. Sunday lunch was the main disappointment which consisted of two slices of beef cut on a bacon slicer & neatly folded over to mis represent a large portion & was stringy too poor also very little veg to speak of. Then another wait at the bar to pay once you've squessed through the limited space & dodged the odd dog!! We had read very good reports about this place but that day it failed all expectation.
Lovely country pub. Very popular so probably best to book. Not a wide veggie option but huge choice of gin makes up for it
