Twice visited this place and the food is shocking, even the staff know it is poor when they bring it to your table and apologises about it before you even start your meal. After my first visit with the family which was bad, I foolishly thought a second time must be better for a date night with my wife, but how wrong was I. The fries and onion rings are there second attempt to get to some type of quality. You can tell they were just thrown back in to warm them up instead of doing new. My wife also had the spiced coconut salmon and cod. This could of been anything as it did not taste like cod or salmon at all. If visiting this place please do so with caution as the quality is poor.
Overall it's a very reasonable place to come for some Mexican inspired food, cocktails and a nice atmosphere. There are a few things that let it down though... The service is quite slow even when it is not that busy. Depending on what you order, you can certainly feel that you've paid way more than you should have. The menu doesn't label the spiciness of certain accompaniments to dishes, which can be a problem for people a little sensitive to spice. The staff do help to make up for some of the mistakes by being very helpful and understanding. If it wasn't for the staff I would rate this 3/5 at best. Nothing amazing but nothing overly disappointing either.
Quiet around lunchtime for a cosy meal. Good lunchtime menu. Refillable soft drinks and all table service. 2 courses for £9.99 at lunch.
We randomly decided to pop in for some food after some Christmas shopping and wow I'm so glad we did. It was the first time we'd eaten at a Chiquito restaurant and were spoilt for choice as it all sounded so good. We decided to go for one of the sharing platters so we could try a few different things. Service was great, we weren't waiting around long at all and the food was incredible. There were two mini burritos which were packed with the filling, so good! Three pulled pork tacos, even better! And four chicken quesadillas... to die for! Oh and a pot each of sour cream and salsa. Everything was so flavoursome and filled us up nicely. Even though I was struggling with the last couple of bits I could not stop eating. I'm now thinking of an excuse to go back again!
Great food , sadly let down with missing items from childs food order and having to educate staff of the menu and not being advised of upsell costs when choosing fries to go with mains at 50p extra.
Good service. Good food. Good GF menu. And stock GF beer.
Great food, atmosphere and music to boot.
I would say slightly overpriced Mexican restaurant serving traditional food. But very nice interior. They also have Mexican hats on every table which creates the atmosphere
I had recently adapted a veganish diet, and was nervous for my first meal out. I was not disappointed!
First of all we were lied to about the availability of certain food items as the menu has changed, we asked if they still served the salmon steak as we couldn’t see it on the menu. We were told no, we therefore ordered something else only to then see the table next to us being served the salmon steak?? You’d assume that the waitress would know about the menu and if she didn’t then she’d at least find the correct information? We were then looked after by Naomi who was wonderful and couldn’t have been more helpful. Unfortunately while we were eating our food sat at table 61-directly in front of the kitchen we over heard several conversations between staff members but that absolute cherry on top was overhearing Tanya - the manager - coming over to shout at a few members of staff. This made us feel incredibly awkward, when we raised this concern with Naomi, She couldn’t have been more sympathetic and offered to have the manager come over to speak with us. After we witnessed Naomi having to essentially beg Tanya to come over to speak with us - again making us feel awkward- she came over and quite frankly couldn’t have been less bothered. When we advised her that we’d overheard her disciplining her staff in a public forum, which is against employers regulations she couldn’t have cared less and tried to defend herself by saying that she wasn’t disciplining the staff members... we overheard everything?? The food was standard and could have been improved, Naomi was lovely but quite frankly if Tanya is the manager of this restaurant then it’s about time they found new management. She is an absolute disgrace. Topped it off by when we went to go to the toilet before leaving we over heard her ‘bitching’ to another member of staff about our conversation. This woman seriously needs to get some people skills and perhaps be sent on further training to learn how to properly manage a team!
