Decided on an impromptu visit as we live close by and the weather was good. Beautiful setting and interesting enough, but we hadn't realised that it was a premium weekend once again, should've read the website and ended up paying £31.50 for one adult, a 14-year old and an 8-year old. We arrived in time to see the last jousting show the premium part of the visit, which quickly got us into the spirit of things. Children especially enjoyed the iron age home with its below ground fridge and youngest found the WWII shelters particularly interesting. Dressing-up proved a hit. Catering could be much better, so next time we go, we'll take a picnic. Staff are lovely and dogs are allowed on leads in the grounds, but understandably not in historic buildings. Scenic trails to walk, but tearoom at the bottom of the park was closed when we visited. Loads of open space so didn't feel too crowded. Overall, would visit again, but not on a premium weekend.
Lots of spooky fun for all the family at the Halloween event. Loads to look at and activities to do. Nice café with lovely jacket potatoes, toasties and soup. Enjoyable autumn day out
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. At the time of the visit, some of the buildings were closed for maintenance and there were also "new" ones being erected. Its like a full scale model village simply impressed how the buildings were restored. There was a demonstration to a small group in the Blacksmith which was great to see, as it really brought the place to life. It would be great if there were more similar kind of activities. We were told there was candle making, but we missed it or it was cancelled. It would be great if there was a proper cafe/deli, the coffee you get is instant.
Interesting place to visit but would be better when a special event was on. Also unless you really want to support the museum financially, take a packed lunch with you as over £40 for 4 paninis, a pot of tea and 2 small Pepsi was a bit of a shocker.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
It's a great day out out doors. Lots of walking but wheelchairs are available if needed. Appreciate the vivid experience in time and can imagine with a peek of what life was like. Not just a snapshot into the past, but a 4 D experience.
An absolutely gorgeous area, fantastic people, sadly no horses but I think they're event only. Been there multiple times, and will keep going in the future!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
What a wonderful place. Saving the old buildings from being destroyed and preserving them for future generations. Loved the old forge and the old farm machinery. Took loads of photos. The place is well kept and well looked after. Top marks for an original idea that has been well executed....
Beautiful museum with a wide range of activities for the children to do and see. Terrific Tuesday was lovely with a lot of expertise for different areas, from blacksmith, sheep herding to candle making and many more.
We've been visiting COAM for many years, with our family and school trips. It's a lovely place to come and relax, look at the interesting buildings and have a picnic. We paid £25 for 2, but concessions apply. There's lots of parking and the site is suitable for wheelchair users and prams; with paths leading to different places. We have also attended specific events including vintage cars, medieval and 1940s. Picnic benches are dotted around, but we take our own chairs just in case. A coffee bar provides light refreshments. The bathrooms are clean and available in three zones - the entrance, main area and at the bottom of the hill. Children can make a candle in the summerhouse, but this may need to be pre-booked. Dogs are permitted outside on short leads, but not into the buildings. Goats, sheep and cattle are kept on site and hand sanitiser is available if you touch them. The staff are welcoming, informative and friendly.Well worth a visit.
2 hour family friendly. Cafe was closed but you could get hot drinks. Plenty of outdoor seating. Nice visit on a good weather day.
