Chichester Festival Theatre

About

Chichester Festival Theatre is one of the United Kingdom's flagship theatres, with a dazzling international reputation.

Story

Chichester Festival Theatre is one of the UK’s flagship theatres, renowned for the exceptionally high standard of its productions as well as its work with the community and young people. Situated in the lively and beautiful cathedral city of Chichester, the Festival Theatre’s bold thrust stage design makes it one of England’s most striking playhouses; a studio theatre, the Minerva Theatre, sits nearby.

The annual summer Festival season runs from April to October, during which productions originated at Chichester reach an audience of over 200,000 and frequently transfer to the West End. Year-round programming continues through the winter with the Theatre presenting high-class touring productions, as well as a traditional Christmas show mounted by the renowned Chichester Festival Youth Theatre.

Rooted firmly in its community, the Theatre runs a Learning, Education and Participation (LEAP) programme that is a beacon of excellence and inspiration to its local audience, as well as being home to one of the country’s largest youth theatres with over 750 members.

This is not normally where I would frequent for my entertainment, however went with some friends to see Oliver at CFT. Amazing performance never seen anything like it really enjoyed my baptism into going to the theatre, will definitely look to visit again.
We went to the opening night of Oliver. Wow, it was amazing. Fagin was outstanding as was Nancy. A great cast all round. We love Chichester Festival Theatre. It has great shows, never disappointing. We also had drinks negotiated in the Minerva Bar across the way where we saw what we thought was a kids birthday party but it turned out they were the child cast for Oliver including Oliver himself.
As a disabled person the theatre is pretty good to navigate and there are lifts. The staff are always very kind and helpful. They even ran and got my daughter a glass of water because we only arrived just in time for the show. With no time to get a drink.
I'm not a Rolling Stones fan but my sister is. I went with her to see Redlands and I am surprised to say we both absolutely loved it. The man who plays Mick Jagger is incredible, right down to the way he moves when he's singing. I highly recommend seeing this. It's a great show, I'm so pleased I saw it.
The internet would suggest this is one of the best Theatres outside of London and having been several times I have to agree! Top quality shows in a beautiful area.
2 May 2024 First time visit to see The Other Boleyn Girl, very impressed. Lovely intimate theatre, good view and sound with boards on either side showing what the actors are saying for the hard of hearing patrons
I saw the production of Oliver here recently, well received by the audience who filled the theatre. i sat to the side on the balcony i felt having an Ariel view was a good way to see everything. Topped the fact the show was performed on an incredible stage!
We were celebrating a dear friends birthday and went to see Oliver. It was such a wonderful and professional show. Cast was beyond amazing. I would encourage everyone to see it. Theatre was amazing. So good to be close to the stage
Beautiful theatre with good views from wherever you are seated. Dogs allowed in the foyer area which is lovely if you’re just there as a visitor and not watching a show with lively areas for dog walks all around. Excellent parking facilities. Saw a fabulous show ‘Oliver’
Great venue, plenty of car parking. We had great seats to one side. Obviously can’t vouch for the rest of them, but guess they were good too. Performance of Oliver fantastic.
