This is now my favourite beach in the uk. Its clean, the water is clear, and it's a lot of fun for the family. .are a packed lunch and enjoy a hidden gem.
We visited the section near Abbotsbury, and it’s hard to rate Chesil Beach as depends on expectations and how you're judging it. It is a 29km rocky beach, that is quite windy and seemed to be good for fishermen based on who was there. You're able to find a quiet spot to sit in the rocks or on seating you bring, as most people seemed to congregate near the parking entrance. However, it is super windy, not a ton to do at least in the central section, and doesn't feel too unique beyond the length compared to other English beaches. So the beach is good if wanting rocky quiet, but wasn't quite the experience we hoped for.
I just love this place. Can be a bit of a tough walk on the pebbles but with so much scenery and the nature reserve here it’s well worth the effort. Photos were taken from the viewpoint near the Heights Hotel on Portland.
The long pebble beach is definitely a must see. The waves of the sea are mesmerising, the colours and the shades generated by the sunlight creates a dreamy atmosphere. The sound of the pebbles underneath your feet adds to it.
This has to be the most unique beach we've ever visited. We had fun finding pebbles of every sort on this beach and the climb up kept us fit. The sound on the other side was like nothing else the pebbles moving in the waves was just awesome. We had a very windy picnic at the top and left as it was cold.
Beautiful beach and the waves are amazing to see. We went two days in a row and it was extremely windy. Seems like that part of the UK is really windy. Also the saw the beach from a high viewpoint looked absolutely gorgeous. Will come back here for sunset next time we in Dorset.
My favourite type of beach, quiet. Due to its length it's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of civilization. It's unlikely you'll walk its whole length being 18 miles long, and some sections are fairly inaccessible, but if you do it's very rewarding. A few fishermen line the beach, silently watching the water. It makes for a very thoughtful walk, and a great place to clear your mind.
Beautiful beach....so long. Big pebbles. Big carpark by the Chisel Beach Wildlife Centre.....beware of the big potholes in the carpark!
Fantastic beach for the scenery. Definite wow factor. Not the easiest beach to walk on as very pebbly, some quite large. Car park at the visitor centre next to the Fleet Lagoon. The sunsets over Chesil Beach and the Fleet are spectacular!
Chesil Bank makes part of the World Heritage. It streches approximately 18 miles very good for long walks and for cleaning your lungs due to the sea air. It can get windy. Accessing the beach can be done on different points along the B3157 road linking Weymouth to Bridport. Walking bare foot can really make a good foot massage. It's good for families, dogs can be walked but clean after them.
