BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I happened to call into the Autocentre in Wednesfield to get my car checked over as there was a noise coming from the rear of the car when I braked. A young lad called me over and said that I needed to have new front brakes and pads and also reat brakes and discs. I also needed 3 new tyres. He mentioned that I had a leak coming from the back brake pipe and to be careful because the car was dangerous to drive. A quote was given of approximately £400 - £500 pound to resolve the problems and the chap in question advised me to go and think about it. Obviously I was a little upset at the time as I did not think that there was that much work that needed to be done. Juat on the off chance I took the car round to another garage on my day off from work just to get a second opinion. The gentleman there said to me that i DID need to look at replacing 3 of my tyres as they were close to the limit however in reference to my brakes I did not need either new front or back brakes. The back brake on the rear off side just needed to be adjusted. The cost of adjusting the brakes was £25. I later purchesed 1 new tyres for a cost of £33 and 2 part worn for the back at a price of £20 each. Total cost £98.00. I am shocked and disappointed that I could have been significantly out of pocket if I had been stupid enough to have fallen for the opinion of a so called mechanic at Chemix. Since this incident I have heard of several other customers who have been told that items needed repairing on their vehicles which turned out to be false claims. With this in mind I would advice strongly that the public beware and think twice before going to this garage for vehicle repairs as the likelihood is you will get ripped off!!!!
