If I'm in an area for a few weeks I always start with a portion of chips following a rule of 'if they cant get that right, chances are everything else will be poor' it often pays off. Pallid, undercooked, soggy, rubbish. I was going to give 2 stars as the curry sauce was good. But..... what's the use of good curry sauce if the chips are in the bin?

We had a lovely tasty meal, freshly cooked. Well priced and excellent service from overly staff. If we visit Cheddar again we will back for more !!Food: 5/5

visited Cheddar Caves last month and had a stopover at Cheddar Fish Bar, amazing food and very happy with the service. These were so accommodating, even though they weren't serving in the restaurant on the day only take away but honoured our request and let us eat inside. So really happy with these guys.

Called in today on our motorbikes. My son had fish and chips , I had pie and chips.  Hit the spot, great price would call in again. The gorge was stunning to ride through but a camping trip is called for?Food: 5/5

The chips and battered sausage were stunning, and the curry sauce  really friendly staff, even came out to ask us how the food was, which is unusual for a chippy. Will definitely visit again next time we are down.

We had just done a charity bike ride from Bristol to Cheddar and the only place we could find to park the bike was by the chip shop, so we popped in for a portion of chips and they were delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and obviously love working together. A great place we shall return.Food: 5/5

22/07/23 update : still just as good; again, nice piece of cod, again, ate more batter than I would elsewhere, crisp, not at all oily, a portion of curry sauce each this time, again, pleasant & prompt service, chips maybe a little past their best but not a deal breaker. Oh and please could you get some HP sauce, it's not a proper chip "buttie" without HP !  Bumped my rating from 3* to 4*  3 months ago: Pleasant service from the staff, nice bit of fish, I ate more batter than I usually do, can't beat chippy chips. I did tip but wish I'd given the tip directly so as to show my appreciation of the keen young guys who were serving and clearly making an effort - sorry guys. Btw - nice curry sauce - more Indian restaurant than chip shop instant Chinese.

Ordered for 2, the price was decent until we got to portion sizing which was a bit disappointing. The food was made fresh however my cod was soggy at the bottom and flavourless but very nicely crispy on the top. The chips were decent, small portion even though I asked for large and the server put vinegar on them despite me telling him that I didn’t want any vinegar just salt. Not the best meal, maybe it was just a one off but won’t be coming back.

Good food , but quite pricey even compared to London standards, slightly long service , but overall I was glad to have come here.Food: 4/5
