Took the clan out here for a day out and at first I was reluctant due to the price of admission. Yet all in all I would say it is worth it. The building itself takes about 2 hours to take in and then there are the gardens. It's best to go on a nice day to make the most of it. There is a lot of see in the gardens and both gardens and buildings are beautifully kept. There are toilets and cafes onsite to keep you going all day. The prices are higher than normal but it's good food and coffee for the price. Outside the building there are lockers to be found which I found considerate for bikers as they are large enough to store helmets in which would save you carrying them around. In the building you can talk to the staff and they can give you further details about the area they are manning. It's a lovely place to spend your day but be ready for a lot of walking. Especially if you get lost in the maze. Enjoy.
It’s an absolutely stunning and magical place! Enchanted by the wonderful house you become beguiled by the enormous and beautiful gardens. It’s a unique experience you shouldn’t miss if you’re close and want to get a taste of the old wealthy lifestyle. PS: You can also see the Mr Darcy statue from Pride and Prejudice 2005
The house holds major collections of paintings, furniture, Old Master drawings, neoclassical sculptures and books. Visiting and a self walking tour is the best was to see the collection and property. Be prepared to spend the whole day….Well worth it.
The house is interesting, a bit of a museum collection rather than an open place view. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of things to see and do. The park is beautiful you can plan an all day program here. Nice collection of plants, breathtaking landscape design and entertainment for every age group.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
It was an absolutely fabulous day at Chatsworth House and gardens. Thanks to Matthew for a superb tour, which lasted an hour and 20 minutes. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, and I'd definitely recommend booking a tour, we would have missed so much detail otherwise. The house and gardens are truly breathtaking, the eateries good and you can always find something lovely to buy in the various shops! We will definitely return!
Very nice place, both the house and the gardens. I think everyone will find something for themselves here. I recommend a visit to the farm for children -a cow milking demonstration and a short but interesting and simple lecture on this process. Children will certainly be happy with the playgrounds, there are large and small slides, sandboxes and water for playing with a manual water pump. There is a restaurant and a few stands selling ice cream, cookies and coffee. I recommend it to all families with children dogs are not allowed in the farm zone, but you can walk with dogs in the gardens
Was a lovely afternoon out. The house was stunning and immaculately maintained. Beautiful artwork and sculptures throughout. Would have loved to spend more time in the garden and explore, but we ran out of time. We will be making a return trip to see the garden as there is so much to see.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
