"For over 50 years Chapter has been the heartbeat of creativity in Cardiff. We're an ambitious, multi-artform venue that presents, produces and promotes international art, live performance and film alongside a dynamic social space."
Absolutely love it here. There's a large open area to grab food and drinks staff are very friendly and helpful with dietary needs. Then there are all sort of arty activities which lead off from the main space. Cinema, printing, dance lessons, orchestral choirs. It was amazing having a wander round before a film.
Gem of a place has something for everyone. Independent cinema movies, verynice coffee +/- cake or food, meet friends for drinks, plenty of space for meet ups with prams and has regular classes too. Very friendly and helpful staff
Eaten, drank, been involved in a production and met friends here. All good experiences. Friendly and helpful staff. Good service. Enjoyable food. Plenty of food and drink options. Highly recommended.
Lovely independent cinema and arts venue. Always lots of interesting events and showings on. Plus, the cafe/bar area is a great space to meet for a drink.
Great independent cinema just outside centre of Cardiff. Seats were very comfy and tickets were cheap. Got a pint which was a little pricy, £5 but overall great experience. Didn’t try much of the food or cake but looked quite nice. Also cheap filter coffee! I would definitely come again, and also wouldn’t mind doing some work there as the cafe was big and calm.
Lunch on Monday it was vegan stew or a vegan Jamaican veg pot with “fritter” the stew was tasty but it needed a lump of crusty bread the other dish was a load of over cooked soggy veg and the fritter was like a dry donut ! I ordered extra fritters as we were both hungry….. our meals took 20 minutes to arrive they were served on paper plates?! £19 for two small meals and 3 dry donuts. Been a while since we’ve eaten in Chapter and it will be a while till we think about returning. I bought a sandwich in the coop afterwards I was hungry.
What a wonderful place.. a gorgeous venue, great cafe..a wonderful addition to the community.
I know old chapter, and new chapter after having visited since being a little girl. I do miss the aged industrial look to old chapter and it’s gallery, even the bellowing sound that was once the cafe, but new chapter has certainly been fantastic and I think they did a great job. The most memorable art though I must say, was displayed in the old chapter on the raw brick walls.. and in the new, the large display above the doors outside. I didn’t view the gallery so much since it was redone. I hope that Chapter goes on forever, staff always brilliant and an excellent rocket salad. I love the cinema, it is cosy and connects everyone in the room as audience.
Surprisingly good roast dinner on a Sunday. Staff are helpful and friendly, though some not too knowledgeable about their limited cocktail menu. Good venue for comedy
I only found out about this venue about one week ago and I have been there nearly every day since then. I have an ad placed on the community notice board, I have eaten international food in the restaurant, I have visited an amazing exhibition in the art gallery; as a writer, I am participating in the next exhibition, which is coming from Australia, I have seen a classic American film in one of the two theatres. Tomorrow I am going to see a classic Japanese film, and in a couple of weeks I am going to attend a highly recommended and reviewed play. Everyone is friendly and they are of all ages and from many different countries, most of which I have been to, so I can practice talking to them in their native language. It is like a home away from home, and it is free to visit. You just have to pay for food and cinema/theatre tickets. Highly recommended. David Dobson
