Spectacular views of the surrounding area and so peaceful. A lovely beach to the east side of the area , heading back into Fortrose. A small lighthouse is a nice focal point. Plenty of parking. Lots of seats and tables for a picnic or too set up your camera or binoculars to look out for dolphins or seals. Definitely recommend
Wow! We visited hoping to see the Dolphins and was not disappointed. They put on an amazing display for us. We were so lucky to witness it so close to the shore too. We'll worth the drive and the views are magnificent too
Paid parking available at the Chanonry Point with a good number of spaces available. We have come here on the off season so parking wasn't an issue. Lovely views from this location and also access to nice beach. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins this time but still worth the visit.
This is supposed to be one of the best places to see marine mammals and there were lots of people there, scanning the water. But today, we were unlucky. There's a small pay and display car park beside the lighthouse and a few benches and tables if you are in for the long haul. The beach itself is mixed sand and pebble, probably more for dog walking than sunbathing. There warning signs saying don't go in the water because of strong currents.
Amazing scenic view point. Not much parking space, so good to arrive early. The view is incredible. We could not see the dolphins, but take some good binoculars with you and something to eat and drink, as there is nothing nearby, not even water.
A stunning dolphin spotting location We were treated to around 20 dolphins circulating the beach and it was the most magnificent sight.. the beach is accessible from a small carpark with a small charge but a busy one. Prime time for dolphin spotting is 1-1.5 hours past low tide so check the tide times before planning your visit. There were a number of dolphin spotters with us on the far beach which is around to the right of your parking spot but we had a clear viewing position nonetheless. Regardless of dolphins, the beach is well worth a visit with lovely views, pebbled and plenty to explore for all. It’s only a short walk from the carpark so easily accessible for all abilities. An absolute highlight of our trip this year.
Rocky beach on one side, sandy beach on the other, this spit of land out into the Moray Firth has great views of the surrounding landscape and 18th century Sea Fort George. You can also see dolphins in the surrounding water. The hours after low tide are best for this. You shouldn't swim in the water as the tides are very strong.
Lovely area with amazing views. Kids loved searching for sea glass - we filled 3 bags with it all! Seals are usually nearby and we did see dolphins about 100meters out, apparently they usually venture much closer as close as 5 meters from the shore, but we wasn't lucky on this occasion. Plenty of parking and benches close by.
Lovely spot and a very scenic drive to it. Described as one of the best places to see bottlenose dolphins and sometimes porpoises but we visited a bit too late in the year so missed out. There is parking but not much and it is pay parking.
Lovely beach for walking the dogs. Even more special if you manage to time it right to see the dolphins. Did notice quite a lot of jellyfish on the beach though.
