I'm a regular renovator and often use Central Lofts when doing any extension work. Over the years, they have always provided a competitively priced end to end service and work at a diligent pace. I initially chose Central Lofts for my first project due to price, they were the cheapest, but I have continued to use them now because of the relationship built over the years, particularly with the PM, and also because they are reliable, trustworthy and deliver to plan. Crucially, when things do not go to plan which is inevitable in the building world, they rectify and solve at their own cost. This was particularly helpful during the pandemic when global supply chain issues caused all sorts of challenges. My most recent project completed at the start of this year, and took 10 weeks for a double dormer conversion and partial internal refurb of the property. The inhouse architect and planner did a great job with the design and managed to find an acceptable solution to fit 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom in the loft space of a standard Victorian terrace. The building team onsite were tidy, diligent and worked extremely hard 6days a week to meet the timescales I set. The carpentry was complicated by the fact that this old house has no straight walls or floors, but the carpenter always found a solution. A special mention must go to the plumbing team. The house needed new radiators throughout in addition to new plumbing to accommodate the loft facilities. As this was a partial refurb, and i didn't want to change some of the existing flooring or replaster walls, they had to find an innovative solution to fit my new standard sized radiators in the existing non standard spaces, which they did and installed perfectly. I'm very happy with the end result.
Central Lofts helped me transform my loft into a third bedroom. A very professional and responsible service throughout the process, from planning until completion. The entire team were very good. I was liviyin the house at the same time and they were very respectful and delivered the work on time. Also they were very collaborative to adjust to ongoing improvements as the works evolved. Definitely one of the most reliable construction team I've ever witnessed.
Loft conversion shell completed earlier this year. Best on price but main reason I went with Central Lofts was that they were also the most professional and friendly prior to signing the contract, and went into all the detail I needed, answering questions etc, before I had even committed to anything. The work was carried out in good time. The two new staircases hand crafted on site are beautiful. The only two small things I would mention as a negative was that a originally told the ceiling wouldn't need to be lowered and in the end it did but no extra cost, and b communication was sometimes slow once work started, and felt like an awkward chain between me and the PM and the guys on site that could've been smoother, eg knowing what days the team would be working or not, eg working around changing weather. The actual crew on site were all nice guys not any of the horror stories you sometimes hear about builders. A few decisions that should've been made sooner seemed to get left to the last minute, but if you're having a loft done just be sure to push for everything to be notified to you asap. I will definitely go with Central Lofts on my next property.
CLL have been brilliant from start to finish. They built our loft extension, refurbished the whole house throughout and landscaped our garden on time in only 6 months and on Budget. David and Renatas are gentlemen, nothing is a problem and the quality of their teams’ workmanship is commendable. Renatas was on hand throughout and the team of tradesmen were consistently on site during the build. Renatas was the key to everything running smoothly. We were so pleased that we went on to do the same works to my uncles and a further loft extension to my mother and fathers on the same road – both again finished in 6 months and on budget. In only a year we have refurbished two houses and three loft conversions on the same street in Balham. A classy outfit – thank you CLL!
We had a loft conversion built by renetas and team in 2019. had we probably met about eight different builders before we found central lofts. I had originally gone with a loft company from outside London but due to timings they were unable to commit to doing the project in the summer of 2019. So I asked them if they could recommend a company. The provided me with Huws number and said they recommend him. The architect arrived at our house and explained the loft project to my while I was at work. She immediately fed back to me that he was the first person who really managed to explain to her what the work would entail and how it would look once constructed. A few months later we decided to go ahead. The architect then came round again ran through the works and bought a architect for the technical drawings. The next day our project manager arrived and within two weeks work had commenced and took care of the Building regulations and the skip license. I was extremely keen on a full package and basically do not have the time or inclination to get involved in the moving pieces. It was this wholistic approach which I greatly valued. Scaffolding went up in a couple of days and then our building team arrived. The builder and his helper who were both top guys. Its pretty crazy how quickly the loft was built. For the first 3 weeks all the work is external with steel girders being placed in the roof and tiles taken off. The dormer is then built and work inside can commence. Honestly the speed is really impressive. Loads of builders take a long time making no progress Central lofts work fast and quickly which is what I like. Once the loft is complete the stairs are constructed, this took 1 day which is crazy and you have another floor on your house. Windows are fitted along with more internal work. Its at this stage when I thought it was almost done but there was probably another month of plaster board electrics windows ect. The tiling and plumbing and electrics is next. Word of warning here running electricity from under the stairs tears through walls as everything needs to be replastered. We were planning on redecorating so it didn’t bother us, but the process creates dust everywhere, even though covers are placed everywhere. In the loft we worked and adjusted the plans as we went along to get the size of bathroom and layout we wanted. The builders were totally flexible which was great. As you don’t understand the full layout of everything until the shell is done. Finally a carpenter comes in and fixes everything doors, skirting board cupboards. What's prompted me to right this review is 4 years later when we come to sale the house. I had lost out electrical certificate. Central lofts came out to recertiy for free. Great service years later
I chose Central Lofts to complete my loft conversion in early 2022 after engaging 3 mainstream &!well known loft conversion companies for full job estimates & appraisals. Not only were Central Lifts the fastest to respond, their total estimated cost was the best. Looking through many years of very positive historical reviews &!feedback gave me confidence to proceed with Central Lofts. Having now come to the end of the whole process in Dec 2023, Central Lofts have been excellent the whole way through. They stuck to our originals contract agreed & signed back in 2022 for the overall total cost of the entire project build costs & the quality of the builders & other. Contractors has been top notch all the way through. I 100% would fully recommend them to do all this again and am extremely happy & satisfied with everything they have done, after spending £60 £70k to get this work done. Huw, Renatas & the whole Central Lofts team have been completely reliable, trustworthy and have 100% delivered on everything the have done. Well done guys - you've done an excellent job & I 100% would recommend & vouch for you to do any future jobs or works. What a great job!! Your team turned up every day all bar Sundays & worked flat out from start to finish & what a great job they did, even with me changing things in the middle…lights & even the French doors. Renatas is an absolute star & would answer my phone calls 7 days a week & also sometimes quite late at night. The price was very competitive & fantastic value. I have no hesitation in recommending Central lofts. Almost forgot Mr D Gage another great person who made everything go smoothly.

We have hired CentralLofts for a loft extension that had already been designed and approved by council. The entire process was extremely smooth: David came to discuss budget and work in June, and Renatas the contract manager came in September to discuss the details just prior to the commencement of work. The building team led by Michael, they have several building teams started to work in mid-september, and by the end of October everything was pretty much done !!. Things we liked a lot of the experience: - High quality craftsmanship: all the builders are proud of the job they do. They want to hear from you that you are happy, and they put all their efforts to make sure that this happens. It's about small things, like noticing that a piece of the pre-existing ceilings is not well done and fixing it just to make sure the final work is done properly. - Communication: both Renatas and the leader of the builder team are always at your disposal via whatsapp. As mentioned by other reviews Renatas may not come very often to the building side, but there is no need to: he is always responsive to any question or doubts. - Care: our loft extension was performed on a recently decorated house, and we lived inside the property with a small child throughout the process. Yes, it is a bit of a messy process at times. But everybody in the team was extremely careful to minimise the inconvenience on our family. The building team would often spend the last part of the day tidying up as much as possible the dust generated by the works. - Speed and organization: the speed and the efficiency in the work were unbelievable. Renatas gave us a timeline for the works that seemed quite optimistic to us based on stories we heard about similar building works done by other companies. Somehow they managed to finish ahead of that already really optimistic schedule! - Reasonable cost: before choosing Central Lofts, we received quite a few quotes from various building companies in the local area. We got quite unbelievable quotes, all north of 6 figures, citing brexit and inflation as causes. Central Lofts gave us much more reasonable and detailed costings, and worked throughout the process to help us save money and fit our budget wherever it was reasonable to do so. We really enjoyed the support given to us by the Central Lofts team throughout this project, and would recommend their work to anyone.
