Absolutely shocking service and I am completely appalled at the unfair treatment.nnI rang up the council in relation to a noise complaint month’s ago. I was told to use the noise app where I would build a case against my neighbours. I had a sufficient evidence from the noise app, and the officers came to visit my place on three occasions. They did hear the dogs barking, however decided it didn’t constitute as a nuisance despite my heaps of evidence and me making them aware that when the dogs are outside the noise is intense. It can range from up to 20 minutes to over an hour, occurring at 8am and throughout the day. This has caused me immense stress and I had made the council very aware of the detriment it has caused me like having to buy ear defenders, not being able to hear meetings, waking me up out my sleep, affecting my study and so on. I was told that if the council were to take a case against them they would not accept my videos as I could be apparently provoking the dogs by standing in my own garden?? And I was essentially told to make my own private nuisance case which would cost me a lot of money and stress. Appalling.nnAccording to Ni direct “ There is no fixed level of noise that constitutes a statutory nuisance. Individual circumstances differ and each case is judged on its merits. In deciding whether a noise is enough to amount to a statutory nuisance, the authorised officer of the district council has to consider the reaction of the average, reasonable person to the nuisance, taking account not only of its volume, but factors such as when and how often the noise occurs and the duration of the occurrence”. The council did not take into account my individual circumstances despite having evidence and hearing the dogs and having full knowledge of the stress it has caused. I felt totally dismissed and almost gaslighted. Imagine having to listen to that decibel constantly and being told there’s nothing that can be done from the people who are supposed to help.nnThis will be further pursued.
Portrush and Portstewart both have unisex toilets. At least the ones I came upon and did not use for this reason. Myself and other females do not want to use toilets that males are using very embarrassing. Think if you did a survey you might find many others with my views. There may be other toilets that are separate I am not sure.
Trying to get to speak to planning officers is a joke the switchboard are not allowed to put you through. You have to request a call back which you very seldom get within 48 hours. Other councils have abandoned this policy which was brought out during the boom years when the planners were under severe pressure due to workload, this is not now the case.nMay I remind these people they work for us the tax and rate payers.
