Looked great through the window when we visited but sadly the Xmas carol service was held in the basement hall as there was an issue with the main steps I think. Anyway, this a unique church with a great story... worth checking out if you like churches or are a practising Catholic in need of a spiritual home!
This is a lovely Catholic church. The sound generated within it is awesome. The community are very friendly,as are the priests. As far as I am aware, there is no disabled access though. The priests do a rota as there aren't enough of them to go around, unfortunately, so there are occasions when mass is replaced by a Eucharistic service
We shared the Ecumenical Service a week last Sunday. Amazing church. Fantastic singing. Friendly parishioners. We felt truly welcome. Thank you.
This unusually upturned boat shape was part of my childhood and really is worth a visit. The cobalt glass used to encircle the large star in blue has a history of its own - the shortage of such blue glass in the 1930s meant that the glass from old blue bottles of 'Milk of Magnesia' were used to make-up the shortfall. Not many people know that!
Our Lady Star of the Sea and St Winefride, Amlwch is the Catholic church in Amlwch. Built in the 1930s and designed by Italian architect, Giuseppe Rinvolucri. Interestingly, the church is in the shape of an upturned boat, to reflect Amlwch's long-standing maritime heritage. So while it a relatively modern building by church standards, it’s an unusual looking building. Well worth a visit.
Love it! Bonkers design; one of the most unusual churches I've seen.
Very nice feelings in the church
Granddaughter had her grading in kickboxing in the lower hall. Very good place and she passed.
Looks amazing! Unfortunately not open today
