A fantastic stone circle that allows you to get up close and walk amongst the stones. It gets busy though, so try for early morning or late evening - the views will still be spectacular. Parking is along the side of the main road and also gets busy at peak times.
A great example of a stone circle with a stunning backdrop. If you’re a photographer then I suggest early morning or late in the evening for a photo as during the day it’s teaming with people. Free parking on the road beside it. Worth a visit if you’re in the area. Not as impressive as stone henge but you get to walk amongst the stones here.
If you are in Keswick, visit this place. The view is amazing and the stone circle is worth viewing. Place is serene and hills offer a pretty view. There is no parking space here, so people generally park road side free of cost.
A hidden gem. We arrived a couple hours before sunrise. Though there were a few people there, I was able to get a couple clear shots. The stones are on the top of a gentle rise and the surrounding hills in the distance provide a nice backdrop.
Fantastic site with stunning views! Free to visit and park. There was an ice cream van when I visited where you could also by the Castlerigg Stone Circle guide book for £6.00. My mother struggles to walk far, but this place was really easy access and she managed it well.
Absolutely beautiful view! You must visit the place if you are in the area. If you get lucky with clear sky like we did, the surrounding view of mountains is absolutely amazing. You can drive up to the place so definitely worth visiting the place. You can spend some time and enjoy the beauty of the nature.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Easy access off the A66 near Keswick and well signposted. You can park on the road next to the circle although it can get very busy sometimes. Great views of the surrounding hills and communitiesVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Loved it, visited three mornings in a row no sunrise as cloudy but still amazing views. Bit muddy in places where people either sit or jump off. Side of road parking, choice of gate to enterVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very nice place, can see all the mountain peaks on a 360 degree angle haha, stones are laid out in a circle too looks pretty cool, who knows how long they been there, it is a very nice calming place to visit and spiritual for some people even.
A truly picturesque location especially if you manage to get there for sunset. The circle is surrounded by beautiful silhouettes of mountains. We were there when the sky created a stunning pink hue over everything. Really magical. A very interesting place if you're into archaeology, history etc.
