It's a great way to spend an hour, and it's free donations accepted. A fine collection of buses from mostly the Essex area, with a couple of fire engines, the knowledgeable owner of one, had some great stories to tell from his time in the Fire Brigade. And there was the odd surprise, the blue car shown from a Gerry Anderson film. Bus rides were available, too. If you want to support a museum run by volunteers and want something a bit different, you could do a lot worse.
Took my wife as she was part of the little market that was going on inside selling various items. Some unusual vehiclesVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
You are free to wander amongst the exhibits, many of which are privately restored and owned. So understandably no acces inside allowed in some of them. However, this does not matter when there are enthusiastic volunteers who can explain the working history, restoration and current role. Good tea, clean toilets and parking!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Great place with lots of vintage buses. Its located in an old bus depot and still has some of the rooms set out as they would have been when the depot was active. There is also a large model railway set upstairs there is an admission charge for this, but the rest is usually free. Toilets, cafe and limited disabled access and parking are available. The volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable. It is quite small, so allow an hour for your visit. Check their website for opening as it's only open part of the year.
Nice little museum, I did not see it all as I spent most my time looking at the Eastern National 151 and 251 buses, they were buses I used many years ago and of course seen in the on the buses episodes
Lovely place to visit. It is only small depot but very interesting. Lots of people to talk to. Plus there's a fantastic model railway upstairs. Was only allowed on one bus. Parking area not very big. But they do a small tour. We were asked to come back in October. To have one of these tours.
Bus museum open days are a must, really nice n friendly staff, very informative, free bus rides back n forth to Canvey seafront, take the kids out n see how we used to travel, highly recommended, check website for details of upcoming events Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This museum was on 'to see list' and it didn't disappoint. It has more to it then just old buses. My daughter really enjoyed pretending to be a bus driver and discovering history. We both were impressed with little train village. It is free to visit and there's donation boxes around if you feel supporting this great educational museum. They also have a small souvenir shop. Staff are friendly and happy to show around as well as share history.
very nice place, there was a boy there who explained things very matter-of-factly, he had a lot of knowledge in this field, I guess it was the teaching of his grandparents. super
Had a wonderful time visiting, people are amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. Will be making this a regular day out.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
