Dreadful, avoid. They once locked me out of the house I am renting when they came to do a periodic visit. We had to hire an emergency locksmith to open the house, but Castle Estates then refused to pay the bill for that. They frequently fail to act on reported faults.

I was a tenant and Castle Estates were so good, when I later purchased a property and wanted to rent it out, I went back to them as a Landlord. In both circumstances they have been absolutely brilliant and I would recommend them to anyone. The poor reviews are probably from disgruntled tenants who, like my current tenant, have not paid their rent and then wonder why they get asked to leave. Castle have managed the situation through my insurance and I am very impressed so far. That said, my tenant still hasn't been evicted but hopefully that is in hand. He hasn't paid any rent since December last year, it's not almost May, but my insurance has covered my losses.

They charged for everything - for sending us a letter, for property inspections, for releasing refrences, for check in and check out, not mentioning referencing and administrative fee itself! By the way, the check out inspection was severe, not even a spot inside the oven went missed. They do not accept any "wear and tear", the property should be the same at check out when it was at check in and even better (does not matter how many years you spent there) if you want your deposit back, which by the way, rarely happens. Oh, but initial viewing was free!

The complaint listing a grievance against our methods of trading and pricing has been left anonymously, and despite a complaint to Google because the comments are just not true and Google removing the review on one occasion, the person has seen fit to write the review again! We would welcome the chance to address every point raised, as an ARLA registered agent we have a complaints procedure which we would follow openly if the person would take the trouble to contact us first. I have therefore taken this opportunity to respond and would be happy to discuss the content further with anybody who feels it necessary to do so. Steve Roulstone.
