The secret to great butter! Apparently it's achieved by leaving the milk in plastic bowsers to go a bit yellow in the sun outside a ramshackle shed before moving it in via forklift for processing. Every couple of months the business blocks the drains and lets rancid milk pool on an A road - To be fair they are wearing hair nets when they do it. That alarm on the refrigerated unit goes off most weekends, I assume to let the staff know the milk is finally spicy enough for human consumption. Security is top notch too as you can see from the photo, the hole in the perimeter wall is covered with really thick poster.
Avoid the management at this place is so unfair they sack people for being ill as it states in the food safety if you got sickness and diarrhoea not to go into work but castle dairies expect you to keep going to work with the illness which is putting workers and customers at risk in catching the bug. The management needs to go and do the food hygiene course. This company is not thinking about cross contamination having they workers in with any illnesses which is putting peoples health at risk.
At last....a butter with TASTE... I was taken aback to see it on the shelf at my local Tesco supermarket here in Pengam Cardiff, that I just had to give it a go....and Oh boy was I surprised. Taste like I haven't experienced for a long, long time... Just had it spread on my toast...OMG!!!.
My wife spotted it on Tesco's website and we thought we would give it a try and I must say we were not disappointed the taste took me back many years with just the right amount of saltiness. I would advise anyone to give it a try.
Absolutely delicious, creamy and the right amount of salt, tried quite a few different ones, all very nice.
