I rate the condition of this parking lot compared to the price. The parking lot is in a good place, in the center, next to the castle, with a nice view, but there are such holes... Such holes, always full of water, are already dangerous for the car, let alone for elderly people. If you have something to do downtown, it's really better to park on Union Terrace and walk a little way, there's always some free parking there. This parking lot is a hole on top of a hole, a covered hole.
It is convenient for the City Centre, Clifford Tower and the Hilton Hotel but my god it needs resurfacing it is a collection of pot holes of different depths, and reducing in number of bays to increase the size of the bays for cars made since 1980. I was just able to get our Ford Puma in a bay due to the Q7 opposite parking half in the road. Even then there was barely room to open the doors, we had to get our toddler out before I pulled in.
Parked on a Thursday morning. Easy to find a space. A little bit pricey for a days parking but the convenience of the location offsets that.
Castle car park is really convenient for York City Centre and the museums that are in close proximity.nnThe only reason I gave it three stars is because:nn1. Parking in York City Centre is very expensive.nn2. The parking spaces here are really small. Don’t park here if you have an expensive or big car, there is high risk that it will get scratched.nn3. It’s very busy so on weekends / bank holidays, you need to arrive early to guarantee yourself a spot.
Terrible car park. The location is good but everything else was frankly rubbish. The surface is completely destroyed with really big potholes. The size of the parking bays is ridiculous. Once parked my mum couldn't get out of the car. The spaces were so tight my partner had to guide me out while I did a 15 point turn . Whoever owns this carpark should be ashamed of themselves for even charging. I wouldn't advise anyone to park here
