Always trust past reviews. Couldn't book as website said it was too late. Restaurant allowed us to dine despite having half an hour left until closing time. Plentiful parking space. Spectacled man served us with much warmth. Kindly explained the menu and answered queries on travels around the area. Food ordered was white beam, trout, turbot, venison pie, apple crumble and Highland mess. All delicious and moderately priced. Several pastries and numerous selection of whiskeys available as well. The restaurant ambience was one of the comfiest I have been in. It was busy at all and thus environment was quiet and chill. Well-lit area, not too bright nor too dim. Decorations were interesting and pleasant. There was a lounge beside the dining area with many trinkets to look and see. I would dine again if I pass by Carron. Lovely dinner. My whole family enjoyed it!
I stopped by just a coffee, but what a discovery! Every nice people and good service. Finally a good cappuccino and fruit scone, unfortunately it was too early to have lunch, after looking the menu, it’s really a good option for lunch and dinner too!! They have variety of whisky, really good ones. Really recommended it!
I had been to this restaurant years ago I think it is under new management now. We arrived just after 3pm it was a good time as it was nice and quiet. I suspect you would need to book for the evenings as I would imagine it is popular. I had venison and steak pie and it was perfect. The restaurant is located just beside the main road A890 near the village of Strathcarron not far from the Lochcarron junction. We had a lovely time at this restaurant and we will probably return another day when we are this direction.
Absolutely beautiful setting and very good tasty food! The staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful. Even the chef came out to us who was amazing and knew her stuff! The waitress was friendly and efficient and knew her stuff on Sherry and whisky along with the owner who was also very friendly. We brought a bottle of Sherry and whisky from there extensive display. Would definitely recommend a stop even if it's just for tea and cake. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
Absolute recommendation! Beautiful place, beautiful people. I would like for John and Claire to adopt aus and feed us every day. They were also super helpful with places with to go for us on our holiday. They opened a little bit early for us when we arrived in the rain and even made special food for us cause it was so cold Thank you for everything. We will come again <3
Another excellent meal at the Carron Restaurant. The food is delicious and unpretentious, well-cooked, and with extremely generous portions. It really is extremely good value, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.Food: 4/5
What a lovely place. Calm and cosy, and beautiful food. Very kind staff. Reasonable prices and full enjoyment. Soup of the day cream of broccoli thick enough for spoon to stand, enough of a meal in itself! And first restaurant I've seen offering Lapsang tea on the menu. Excellent stop especially on a rainy day.
Charming cottage overlooking the lake and mountains. We only stopped for a coffee and couldn't resist the freshly baked scones delicious. Would love to go back and have full lunch/dinner, the menu looks great.
Celebrate our wedding anniversary at The carron resturant each year and never disappointed. The food is delicious and made fresh. The owners who work by themselves are very attentive and provide a 1st class experience. Being one of only a few establishments open at end of November is a bonus.
Wonderful place with amazing atmosphere and fantastic food! Great service in a lovely cozy setting; a must do and definitely worth a large detour. One of the nicest places we've eaten on our Scotland road-trip!
