Great opportunity to visit the castle that is so well maintained. You can explore both external areas of the castle and interior of its buildings, including the main one, nicely decorated to demonstrate the life of those ancient times. Tickets can be bought at the cash desk, no pre-booking needed. Enough parking places on the streets nearby.

Very good for history buffs, lots to see and some very good views to make nice pictures, we visited on a really nice day, blue skies and sunny. Very interesting exhibits around the site, lots of stairs.

We had a lovely time at the Carrickfergus castle, exploring all its different areas and walking up parts of the fortification walls. The site has undergone a lot of restoration works in the recent years and is well-maintained. I'd recommend dedicating at least an hour to explore the whole castle and read the information provided. We visited on an early Saturday morning, around opening time, and practically had the whole place to ourselves. The castle was also decorated for Halloween which was entertaining to see. Free parking is available nearby.

This was our first stop on a tour of Belfast and Giant's Causeway. Be careful, it can get pretty icy here in bad weather. It looked stunning at sunrise.
