Lovely rooms, one of the hotubs wasn't available though.Rooms: 5/5
Large, clean and comfortable rooms, although single beds were a bit narrow. Menu was oddly eclectic and food was very average - don't be vegetarian or expect much other than beige food. Bigger problem was karaoke on a Saturday night we were only staying one night, which may as well have been in the bedroom and didn't finish until 11pm Maybe later?. It's fine as an overnight stop on the Pennine Way, but suggest avoiding Saturday nights!
Used to be a pub but is now a venue place,17 if us ladies had a fantastic hen party there, has two hot tubs.Rooms: 5/5
Caravan site good with excellent showers etc it may have been bad luck but we arrived bank holiday Monday and went to eat in pub it was busy when our food came it was dire my WHOPPER burger was minute and cremated...my wife had kofte they advertise authentic Turkish food...she said worst ever had and she should know her ex is Turkish. .it was burnt and a piece of cotton or something in it beer and wine good but we have not eaten here for rest of week so they lost about £250 from us .
second time i have stayed here. Rang Saturday morning for a pitch for tent and good to go. Just getting back into walking and camping so wanted somewhere out in the sticks but also wanted my creature comforts and this place ticks all the boxes. As with my first time where the shower/toilet block was warm and spotlessly clean. I was ok but a few others had got wet and they have a tumble dry so you can wash and dry your kit. All staff are very welcoming and you are made to feel like it your local pub. Beer spot on. Food was excellent. Saturday night had the kebab platter with my partner and Sunday had a roast dinner for tea. Got told Sunday was a bit of a wait because busy but food out quickly and well worth the wait for the dinner. Pork was cooked beautifully and the veg etc was piping hot and tasted great. I live 45 mins away from here but shall be taking the drive up some Sunday's just to have the roast dinner. Just hope that Bev and Simon can open a chain across the Pennine Way for all to enjoy. I shall be returning on a regular basis in the future.
Camped here with our motorhome with friends. Good facilities with baths perfect after a days walking. Good food served in the pub. Bus stop just outside but we just used taxi's as there was six of us. Loved the area and the great beers.
Booked a room this weekend and was impressed by the quality of the room, each room is very large and roomy with a high ceiling with beams. The ensuite was immaculate , good powerful shower and loads of hot water to boot and I'll say it never took an age for the hot water to run through. Good quality fluffy towels as well!!! Tea, coffee and biscuits supplied in the room LCD telly on the wall with a supplied, can't comment on what's on but the usual channels I'd suppose, But why would you want to watch telly when you can go down the pub and sample some of the fine ales and have something to eat!!! I just had the breakfast, which was excellent - Good quality bacon, Sausage, egg, Black pudding, mushies, beans , tomato , hash brown and toast. Of course, cereals , pastries and other things are available. Would recommend this place to stay no problems!
We've been here before a few years ago and the food was lovely. After a recent visit the food seemed OK. Service was OK. However the next day I know of 3 of our party had upset stomachs.
You wouldn't choose to go here. You end up here because it's the only pub in the area. Beautiful views. Young staff. Decent beer. The best I could say about the food is very ordinary.
I arrived at The Carriage House at about 5pm on the Saturday afternoon of the 2017 jazz festival in pouring rain from overcast skies, fearing the worst, but instead opened the door to a fantastic band 4gottenfunk, everyone on the floor and all singing along. As one of the staff said the next day, "they were right brilliant." An unforgettable experience. And, as a camper, I really appreciated being able to have a hot bath before going to sleep ... and when I woke up! Also a free jazz bus service down to the village. Plus, good cask ales and proper crisps. Highly recommended.
