The long walk around 7.5k is terrific. Great views and great countryside. The start of this long walk is by the castle entrance and it's free. Don't let them fool you into paying the £5 per person entry charge.
Amazing place ! I feel lucky to have been here. One of my favorites for sure ! I would go back many times. My fiance and I love it.
The approach is steep so not for anyone with mobility issues, the ascent takes approximately 10 mins. The castle remains are breath taking, with panoramic views across the landscape. Dont miss the tea rooms, home cooked food with contact less payment available. A great couple of hours out, not an all dayer though
Fantastic piece of history, well worth a visit. And for those feeling energetic, some great circular walks taking in some epic views of the castle just follow the signs with the coloured castles on, short walk 2.7kms, long walk 6kms
Famously romantic ruin on a towering limestone crag. Well worth a visit and £5.50. Though the cave access from the castle was closed which was a bit of a let down. Rain I imagine?
Gorgeous views from the castle. However bit expensive for entry £15 entry for 3 people 2 concessions. Restaurant near the car park below the castle serves homemade cakes freshly made sandwiches which were lovely. Free coffee refills were a nice gesture.
Tucked away in the black mountains, this ruined castle is a hidden gem that has to be seen to be appreciated. The castle is up a steep hill and overlooks the landscape far below, offering beautiful views. Be sure to bring a torch to check out the secret tunnel.
