Eat, Stay & Party!

Story

Canas y Tapas, pronounced (Canyas e Tapas) or CyT for short is a traditional Spanish Restaurant, Bar and Café, with a twist. The twist is that all the food is very traditional but the new brand image for Canas y Tapas is now very contemporary and cutting edge. CyT has over 97 restaurants covering many regions of Spain and we have recently expanded to Portugal and France. We are proud to launch our flagship Restaurant, Bar and Café here in Angle, Islington, London and this is intended to be the first of many due to its popularity.

Depending on which part of Spain you are from, it is said that the first Tapas was simply a piece of bread placed over a glass to keep the fruit flies out. The word Tapas historically means ‘to cover’ in Spanish. This custom dates back to medieval times. Tapas is essentially a style of eating rather than a way of cooking. You can have your own tapas if that is the way you prefer, but the real Spanish way is to share everything, that way you get to try lots of different dishes and enjoy a great social experience at the same time!

We are proud to offer authentic Spanish food with fabulous flavours! With over 50 delicious Spanish tapas dishes to choose from using quality, natural ingredients, your taste buds will be in for a culinary delight! Our extensive Spanish menu covers everything from an exceptional lunch time menu through to everything you could want for a late night tapas dining experience.

Our bar is open all day until late where you are welcome to sit and enjoy anything from a traditional Spanish coffee (not forgetting our desserts!!) to an ice cold beer or even something from our complementary wine range. All day every day we have a great cocktail list for you to try out… you won’t be disappointed! Our Tapas bar and Terrace is the prefect place to relax, enjoy tapas, and watch the world go by.

We sincerely hope you enjoy the traditional Mediterranean experience Canas y Tapas Angel has to offer. So sit back take your time and enjoy your tapas to the full. There is no better way to sample the real essence of Spain than at Canas y Tapas.

We had tickets booked for a play and knew we can spend exactly one hour and 15 minutes in a restaurant. We ordered a wine and sat there for more than 30 minutes with nothing even though I asked for it very politely once or twice. We watched everybody getting food but not us. I never complain and never write reviews, but when we waited 45 minutes for the first tapas I started to be very nervous. I asked about the food and the stuff seemed to be ignoring us. We waited 70 minutes in total for all the tapas 4 tapas is not that many and missed the play. We ordered some cherry meat, meat balls and other stuff and it was always an egg, plenty of potatoes and just a little bit of the main bit. I was unhappy and would not recommend this restaurant.
I absolutely loved Cañas y Tapas! Delicious food, great customer service and their Sangria was divine. It’s one of the best restaurants that I’ve visited in London. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and would come back again.
Best tapas in Angel: So, this place is a bit of a chameleon! It's a restaurant, bar and a club with DJs! The food is authentic, and there is enough choice for a vegetarian like me! Portion sizes are fair, but YOU MUST SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERTS love the churros!Really lovely ambiance, cool decor with a bar at the back with high stools, and comfy sofas near the front. Couldn't recommend enough!
Ended up with a broken tooth. And got a 50% discounted bill. That was the memory I took away from this place which is a shame because the food is extra ordinary but somehow something "rocky" ended up in my mouth from the plate and chipped one of my teeth on my lower jaw. The service is equally great, and the manager tried his best to understand what went wrong, and the best they could do is offer a discount. What else could they do? I would definitely give it 5 stars for the service, and courtesy, and 5 n half on the food. but probably the 3 stars for you know what.
The waiter was polite but that was about the only good thing I could say. The food was dreadfull, absolutely abysmal. We had unlimited tapas and everything, even vegitables were drenched in grease. Worst tapas I've ever eaten. If you want nice tapas, go to la tasca!
The food was good quality but horrendously expensive. 9 very small slices of cheese and a few bits of spanish hams, £15.95?? Non alcoholic cocktail, £5? Even for London prices I was shocked!
Pretty decent tapas bar/restaurant. The seafood paella was quite good and the staff were friendly but I did find it was a bit expensive for what it is. They did have two for one on all drinks which is good.
I went there at night, it was a club more than a restaurant. They girls went for free but the guys paid £5 very spanish then we were forced to leave our bags on the cloackroom which is just behid a bar where anyone could take it, and it was mandatory. So I had to carry my card and phone on my bra as I was scared to drop it from my skinny jeans small pocket. Music is ok, nothing special, and drinks normal price. At least they have Mahou!! I give 3 starts because we had fun, but not coming back.
Waiter was lovely but the lady in charge was awful, really rude, unhelpful and slow and ruined our evening. Menu is over-priced, deals are over-complicated and food was alright but not worth the hassle. Go to La Farola up the road for a much more pleasant experience!
Went to this place because I like tapas. But this food was awful. The food had no taste pre packed food nothing was fresh. The chicken dish was frozen cubed chicken. It was like rubber.....ect. Never going there again... Spanish tapas no..... I think you need to get a cook in not DIY cook. For what we paid. We was robbed
