It's a good spot for a walk in the woods. There are a few routes with decent paths and nothing more than a mild gradient so would be suitable for most if you take it at your own pace. Very popular with dog walkers but a wholly inadequate provision of bins for waste. Plenty of car parking space and there are public toilets.
Lovely visit to Cairn Wood, large fantastic carpark with plenty of parking, new toilet suitable for disabled and also had an emergency pull cord. Dog poo bin located at the start of the walk so if dog owners just spend a little time here I'm sure it could be picked up and put on the bin before you do the walk around, I suggest taking the path to the left and keep left to do the whole walk, there are some lovely seats along the way but no picnic benches and they aren't needed either, picnic benches =litter, shame that no dog poo bins doesn't = no dog poo, we counted 15 piles just left by irresponsible owners, please just pic it up and take it to the car park I'm sure you wouldn't be so willing as to leave your dog behind. There is a good selection of plants to identify along the way. A lot of money has been spent here let's hope it is kept nice by visitors
Great walks on tarmac paths but only 1 dog bin! No benches! Lots of car parking spaces but nearly always full! At least there is a public toilet.
Lovely choice of walks. When my lurcher lost her coat someone kindly left it hooked on a gate at entrance for us to recover. Nice friendly people walk here although not all poop scooped sadly. Only bins at entrance, few more would be useful further on. Can be difficult to park and spaces are best for letting kids/dogs out safely, particularly on windy days.
Cairn Wood has been completely revamped over the past few years. Now has a good size carpark and toilet facilities. Lots of new walks have been added which take in the whole forest
Mostly used for a dog walk, although, some longer tracks are pretty quiet and clean. Also few beautiful viewpoints
Beautiful forest for walking adventures for families and serious walkers too. New trails are great for little legs and lots of goodies for foraging too. Great coffee cart usually at the car park too with unreal tray Bakes and coffee and kids hot chocolate with milk alternatives.
Lovely spot for walks, bike rides with the little ones. And accessible with a stroller
Fantastic little wood on the outskirts of Belfast. They have done a great job creating a range of walks for people of all abilities. There are public toilets available too. Often at the weekend there is a wee coffee truck too.
Well set out. Nice mixture of deciduous and conifer woodland. Clean pathway and a nice mixture of trails. Carpark is a welcome recent upgrade along with toilets and a nice coffee hut. Only complaint is it appears to be very prone to dalkwalkers filling wee black plastic bags with excrement, and leaving them tied onto low hanging branches. The whole route was festooned with these grim Christmas tree decorations. What a scummy, filthy act.
