Was pleased to see it wasn't one but two sites. Road is quite narrow coming up but there is parking for maybe 4-5 cars. Nice board of information at each site with lovely views in every direction, really makes you think about the lives that were led by our long lost ancestors
Tucked just off the A75 just a short drive from Gatehouse of Fleet you will find the mystical Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns. Two burial mounds which have a fascinating place within the beautiful landscape. These stones are impressive and it is worth stopping by. It is a hidden gem and worth seeing during the solsticeVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Really interesting visit. Road up is a one vehicle track which is quite narrow, with lots of overhangingtrees, but definitely worth a visit as the views from both Chambers are beautiful.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Well worth a visit, even on a cold and windy winter's day. Signposted off the A75, it's a narrow, steep road up to the site. Parking for three cars, four at a squeeze, and five if you're all good friends. Free entry. First of two sites can be seen from the parking area, so a very short walk to it. There's a second site a short distance up the lane beyond.
Easily found off the A75. The first you approach is by far the most impressive. The second is located about 200 m up the farm track no access by car for the last bit
The second Dolmen is more intact but only a stones throw further on. Either way take a walk up there for the view across to the Isle of Man. You can drive up the single track road to the gate, but beware tractors coming down to meet you.
Quite a walk on a blustery day, but well worth a visit. Two small site with a short walk between the and a terrific view of the sea from the brow of the hill. Gorgeous.
Good place for a quick stop. Nice views, good information boards. There are two of them in a very close proximity.
A beautiful little place to visit steeped in history. The countryside is stunning.Visited onWeekday
