I had a voucher for a free burger and decided to redeem in this branch and I was really happy that I didn't have to pay for it. Normally the beef pulled burger would cost me £13 which is expensive for the quality and the portion you get. My burger arrived cold and it was really small. The staff was lovely. I would not recommend there are much better places with amazing burgers for a much lower price.
Unsafe environment, slow and bad service, poor quality food. I will give it 0 stars if such option is available. We arrived at the restaurant with 2 toddlers and there are a lot of broken glass on the ground of the table right next to the entrance. No one clean up the glasses for 20 minutes. The waiters are impatient and inefficient. My soup is served without a spoon. We also waited for one hour for our main course, where both mussels and steak are over cooked. From the picture you can see that it is not medium at all.
I have been to Café Rouge Hampstead with my girlfriend on a Sunday in January. This has been a terrible experience. After having waited for 35 minutes, my starter, Champignon à l'ail photo was served burnt. I ordered the Bouillabaisse that was disgusting and just unfrozen. There is no added value; just gathering unfrozen low quality food in a single plate. The prices are excessively high for such a low quality food. I feel sick now. I am French myself and felt insulted that this could pretend to be a "French restaurant". The crumble was the last bit of a disaster: the cream was full of water. The service was not pro either. Avoid at all cost.
Not an enjoyable experience. Only place on a Sunday afternoon that was not packed. We now understand why. The only highlight was our waitress. Thank you! Food took almost an hour to arrive even though it was croque monsieurs and it was not hot. For an empty restaurant this was just weird. Floors were really dirty and covered in food. Stepped in a few frites. Also does not allow dogs but there is no sign on the door. Will not come back!
Terrible service and poor food. We waited 30 minutes for poached egg on toast and a granola bowl, when asked how long it would be it arrived straight away. The eggs were rock solid. Toast was cold, barely toasted and disappointingly not sourdough as stated on menu. We complained about the food but by that time didn't want to wait another 30 minutes. We were very disappointed with the service and quality of the food. We were not offered any bill reduction for an awful experience and will definitely NOT be eating here again.
We waited more than 30 minutes for a starter so decided to leave. The waitress assured us it was coming immediately 20 minutes in, only to serve a small bowl of olives 10 min later not what we ordered. Everyone around us was served in the meantime, despite arriving later, although with a significant wait time too. The waitress said they didn't have enough chefs - why take customers in then and not warn them of the wait time?
This was my cold fondant au chocolat after 38 min. Just a disappointment with not friendly service
Got a free burger at Cafe Rouge as part of a promotion with my phone network and decided to take advantage of it. Short version is, I'm happy I didn't pay for it. I can't remember what the full price was, I'm assuming in the region of £12, but I remember thinking I would have been fairly annoyed had I paid full price. Not very tasty, quite dry, fries and condiments were pretty poor. Not the worst I've ever had, but certainly below average and I've had many a burger in my time
Cafe Rouge has to be one of the poorest excuses for a place to eat. Dull, overpriced food, small selection and portions. Once in the St. Johns Wood one which understandably has now closed the waiter brought out all the plates full of food, could not hold them and as he was about to put them on our table, dropped them all on my poor Brother, who had just finished work and was wearing an expensive suit, tie and winter coat. Everything he was wearing became filthy. He is a lawyer and threatened to sue them. They were apologetic and paid for his dry cleaning and our bill, but it ruined our evening. We did not eat much. Never went back again and I avoid this sub standard chain trying to pass itself off as some kind of French type restaurant.
We waited an enormous amount of time from entering the restaurant to the food being delivered to the table: 70 minutes precisely, and the place wasn't busy. We had the poulet breton, and I have to say it was delicious, but I wouldn't go back to this particular bistro because of the long wait.
