I had the beef bourguignon and it was delicious. The decor is very nice too. 20/9/21 - The Rouge Breakfast was great value for money and tasty. 28/11/21 - The fillet mignon was expertly cooked, best steak I've had in a while.
We have been regular visitors long before the Rouge re-brand. The staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you. Dogs are now allowed to visit. We usually sit outside with our Labrador but during particularly cold winter days we don't have to suffer anymore! In our experience, food is always good. Vegetarian options: Would like more vegetarian options.
6 of us went for breakfast, unfortunately no one ate all their breakfast, sausages looked like they had just come from pack to plate, snotty eggs, anemic hash browns & fatty bacon the black pudding was rock solid! The children had pancakes with fruit but because it had pineapple chunks on it the pancakes turned stodgy and not so nice. Unfortunately we won't be back
The atmosphere was average, service okay but I wouldn't say attentive, food was mediocre, the prices extortionate. The steak wasn't seasoned, was under cooked and sinewy, really should have had a side salad or something else for the price. The chips were nice but tiny portions, vegetables overcooked and expensive. Dessert was good but don't think it is made in house. Heavily overpriced for what you get and the quality of food is a huge let down.
Nice french cuisine - Visited with my family, kids enjoyed their time at the restaurant. Good food well presented but bit expensive for the quantity they served. Staff is very friendly and attentive around the table all the time. We didn’t liked the mocktails which we ordered, but staff understood and changed it straightaway. My wife liked her starter King prawns and my Garlic mushrooms was yummy. Main course we had Chicken Burger and Leffe beer battered fish which was delicious, would recommend others to try. My daughter spent her time on solving the puzzle and drawing Chilly Billy. Desert we tried Hot chocolate fondant and Creme brulle which was good. Would visit again and recommend to others who like to try french food.
Although staff were friendly enough, I think the staff member that served us may have been new, and wasn't quite sure about a few things. We had afternoon tea, which was...average as afternoon tea's go, a little disappointed. It was great tasting, just not the variety that I thought we might get. Not sure I would book to have afternoon tea again at a Café Rouge.
Came in for very late afternoon tea. Was met by a very friendly waitress. Have never visited the area or the restaurant. It was a quiet night, the place is clean. It did have a slight fishy smell but I think it was just the type of food being cooked. We had the ham sandwich which was very nice. The scones were a the perfect size and warm. The cakes were nice, the one that was slightly dry was the chocolate and red velvet cake. Everything was nicely presented. The teas were enough for us to have 2 full cups each. The ladies toilets were clean and dry.
Love the update to the decor! Friendly staff and perfect service for a family lunch. Kids love the garlic bread! Thanks Alenka!
As always never fails to deliver. Took my family for breakfast this morning. Great value. Great food, great service.
Overcooked mussels very dry and unedable. Sent back and received a new one only to find although not as bad as the first fish were still over cooked and unpleasant. A French themed restaurant should be getting mussels right! Can cook far better at home. Other platss were cold. Onion soup was lacking in flavour. Onions lacked sweetness and the beef broth lacked any depth or flavour, cheese was not melted on the croutons. The burger had an over cooked and tough patty. Another diner on our table received a cold main course which also had to be sent back Staff were lovely though and we're apologetic and knocked some money off the bill while refunding the worst offending courses. I won't be coming back though.
