My wife and I left our son with my very capable stepdaughter and had a date night at Café Rouge. Our server, Beth, was lovely and made sure everything was to our liking. We had the garlic mushrooms to start. We ask for the vegan option which meant they did appear dry but the taste was great. I foolishly thought they would be battered. For mains, I had the plant based burger with some onion rings on the side. The charring on the burger was just how I like it and and wife loved her Butternut Squash and Lentil Wellington. She particularly enjoyed the addition of the green beans in the salad although, they were a bit heavy with the dressing. We didn't opt for a dessert as the only option would have been a sorbet. A great night out!
The atmosphere was unbelievable for afternoon tea We didn't want to leave, we were in there for around 2 and a half hours just enjoying the place and drinking hot drinks, It probably would've been longer if another reservation wasn't booked. The food was good, not unbelievable which would have made the review a 4 had the staff and customer service not been 10/10 after I overpaid, and they helped fix that issue as well as their attentiveness during the duration of our stay. Great place highly recommend for afternoon tea. Kid-friendliness: There is a room for young children that is based around soft play to keep them entertained.
Our waitress Rachel was so amazing! She was just the person you would want to be in the presence of. Our little boy loved her, she played with him and sat with him as well. Lovely girl. Kid-friendliness: Was lovely to watch our little boy play while we sat and ate, very relaxing.
Feel sorry for the staff as they try their best but what they have to serve is shameful. Sent steak back as it looked as if it had been chewed up and spat out by a dog. What was then sent back out wasn’t much better. Eat it as I was really hungry but had to go to get some mints after to get the taste out of my mouth. Not the fault of the staff obviously company buying very cheap produce. I think the French would laugh historically at what they send out in their name! Will not return!
It was easily one of the worst meals I've ever had at a restaurant. We come here every year, and it's certainly been going downhill for a while, but this is the last time. We've ordered these exact same dishes before, and couldn't believe how poor the quality was. The Demi Poulet was dry. The Poulet Breton was also dry and had no vegetables like before? The steak was very sad and dry. Also, considering the price of the food £16 - £18 per main. The onion soup was literally brown water. I've had this dish for over 15 years, and it consistently tastes the same everywhere as they don't make it on site. Everyone at the table tried it and was shocked at how bad it was. Disgusting. Waitresses were lovely though! It's time for a new restaurant here.
Seren was a fantastic waitress! I’d had a particularly difficult day and she was very efficient without feeling rushed and attentive. What a credit she is to cafe rouge! Kid-friendliness: Lovely area for the kids to play.
I had the medium rare Sirloin and it was cooked beautifully. I was told that there was a new chef compliments to him. I was served by Dani, she’s was very positive and really made my experience!
I had breakfast there this morning and dinner tonight. All were well beyond my expectations. Everything is so fresh. Best burger I have ever had. Mussels and Beef Bourguignon were out of this world. Breakfast will knock your slippers off.
Kelly was friendly and chatty, which made the experience even better. We all enjoyed our food and kids loved the soft play too! Kid-friendliness: Chatty with kids, good kid menu, hat, crayons and menu on arrival. Soft play!
Terrible. Kept waiting ages. What should have been half chicken marinated in garlic and herbs was simply chicken and very salty chips! Very slow service with meals arriving at different times. Very poor experience compared with other franchises on site.Food: 1/5
